Brands Hatch DTM where to go to eat...etc!

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

me and a few mates are making a pilgrimage (dont worry we dont have our claymores or kilts on) from Sunny scotland down to brands for the DTM later this month and are looking for some advice.

We are staying at the Inn on the Lake in Gravesend (http://www.innonlake.co.uk/) which is about 15miles from Brands, but any locals on here know of what to do places to go etc.

also anyone been to brands and could give us some heads up tips on the best place to stand to watch the racing

i think on the monday we are going to Bealuy (unsure of spelling!) to see the motor museum so if anyone thinks that should be skipped please feel free to give us a better suggestion!

thanks all :D

The Inn on the lake is on the edge of gravesend you've got bluewater for shopping eating etc a few junctions along. You could always pop to ebbsfleet and get the train to london (20mins) and do a few sights. i terms of eating curry houses galore in Gravesend you could go towards medway down to the historic dockyard for a gander. If you want a couple of petrol head venues head to brooklands then pop across to mercedes world which is next door and and also free. allow a day to do both they are well worth it Or just head to brands hatch for the free practice on friday and qualifying on saturday for the best viewing get a ticket for paddock grandstand at least halfway up and preferably to the right of the stand as you look at it though any seat is good at Paddock. You get good views around most parts of the circuit though paddock is tops get there early to get a ticket if you haven't already got one as they sell out fairly quickly. You get the tickets in the shop underneath paddock grandstand.

The food outlets get very busy particularly on raceday so you may want to stock up at a local supermarket, morrisons and sainsburys are not far from where you are staying On saturday you could eat at the kentagon the circuit pub/ food outlet opposite the back of paddock grandstand. prices not too bad and the all day breakfast is ok.

If you want to do the pitlane walk best to do it on the saturday its heaving on the sunday

Beaulieu is pretty good though quite a trek from Kent down to the new forest

You'll have a fantastic time, as you may have gathered I'm a convert and have been supporting the DTM for a while now, you will absolutely love it.

Enjoy your trip, I'm only about 10mins from the Inn on the lake, if you want Curry as Beefy has said, your not to far from the centre of Gravesend, And Bluewater is about 10mins drive http://www.bluewater.co.uk/ which has most brands of food. and lots of shops.

If you like seafood, you are only about 45mins from Whitstable down the M2, which has some very good seafood resturants.

As Beefy has already said a visit to Brooklands and Mercedes Benz world is well worth the trip. the National Motor Musem is a good 3 hrs drive.

And if you do get a seat in the Paddock hill bend 'stand, wrap up warm, as it always the coldest place on earth!!! up there.

Feel free to PM

Hi guys, I'm from Gravesend. Tell me what kind of grub you like & I'll give you some options. If you're still around on Tuesday, there's a Hot Rod shop about 10 mins away from your accomodation that does an Open Day on Tuesdays from 5pm ish. I even know a bar that sells McEwans heavy!

cheers for the responses guys much appreciated!

we are MASSIVE curry fans so the best in town would be perfect, Brooklands may definately be a shout would love to see the mecca

the cold of the grandstand aint too much of a problem pretty used to it haha!

whats the parking escaping Brands like? i know last years BTCC at knockhill we were stuck in the same spot for nearly 1hr45mins, a friends dad had got out the carpark and had stopped for food in perth before wed even left the circuit!

I tend to leave before the last race and also park in the VIP area which is a little easier. Egress from the main entrance is on to the main A20 with part time traffic lights which isn't too bad but expect queues and you wont be disappointed

Where's that????

they are here Apex Business Park, Queens Farm Road DA12 3HU, its a cool place, the guys are very friendly!

For good hearty food, go to nels cafe, in gravesend, its at the valley drive turning, the first gravesend junction you come to going london bound from the inn on the lake, the cafe is right on the roundabout overlooking the a2, very good food hearty portions and cheap!

oh they have food, stall at brands, a burger and a fish and chip van, saw them both last night whilst at an evening trackday, they were etting up the dtm stuff, lots of extra bits being added.

My personal fav is the top of druid hill, a great view of cars coming up and going down, you usually see some action there!

I will have to go and see if i can find them and have a nose, as they are less than 10mins away from me cross country.
