Tuning box, analog or digital?!?

Featured Replies

Hi people!

Just need some advice on a tuning box. My friend is offering me one that he had on his pd golf. It is called a TD Box.

The question is shall i buy it? I dont want a resistor mod as i know i can do that for 50p!! Im not sure if this is one ore not. It has a pc screen type plug that attaches to a black box with some wires and a little switch which can be used to turn it on and off but it isnt adjustable.

Do you reckon it is a digital or analog? worth buting off him for 100ish??

Thanks

Digital is not a resistor. It intercepts a signal sent from the MAF (if i am remembering this correctly), then it recomputes the signal based on what it receives, and sends it to the ECU on the fly.

It is better than the resistor mod as you would imagine - more power... and no chance of it logging ECU fault codes.

Not sure what that particular model is, but why dont you try it and see if you like it before you buy it?

Looks like a decent option :D

stick to dragon for tunning boxes and you cant go wrong!

thanks for the advice guys. I went for it and bought it. Not sure about it yet though have a feeling it maybe a dressed up resistor.

Going to try it tonight and see what it does!

Had a TD Performance box on my Ibiza TDI Sport (110). Nice bit of kit, with OEM connectors & adjustable settings.

Increase in performance was good aswell.
