p0299, what does it mean?

Featured Replies

The workshop printout states turbocharger low boost. It's got a stage 1 remap, and felt a but sluggish this morning, still quicker than standard but not as madmad as it did.

I'm feeling generous, look here.

Thank you sir.

Well, it's unlikely to be #4 as I have just fitted a brand new one, to the latest D revision. Given the circumstances (the dealer "fiddled" around with it this morning, after which the problem became manifest, along with an erroneous low tyre pressure warning, which wasn't low) I am hoping it is a dislodged pipe somewhere. It'd unlikely to be a broken turbo, as it is still pulling much stronger than the standard map, the difference is really quite subtle, less than the difference between a broken and a working diverter valve.

I had this code pop up a few times after my stage 1 map (along with a few others!). After a lot of digging, swapping and testing, turned out to be faulty spark plugs. Are you getting any misfires?

No misfires at all AFAICT.

I have a suspicion about the PCV..why?

Because...

- loss of boost, no spikes or sudden loss. similar to a shagged DV but not as big a performance drop

- Crap mpg, even when driven slowly (today over 10o miles of fast A and M Way I only managed 32mpg and that was tiptoeing home on a suspected slow puncture

- The oil filer extension on the rocker cover was removed as it was "leaking" according to the garage that did the cambelts a couple of weeks back

But, this would suggest its been buggered for some time, and certainly before I had it remapped. I'm sure Ben checked for fault codes, found none, and anyway it has been flying since the remap, until this morning.....

or maybe it is just a simple case of a misplaced / leaking pipe somewhere...

Fitting a new PCV valve and gasket (the valve is revision "N") Tuesday, so fingers crossed. New rockercover was received damaged, so thats for another day, but the filler cap does not appear to be loose or leaking air....

  • 2 weeks later...
