Few pics of my W8 light install

Featured Replies

Copied from my project thread

W8 light is now in! I've had another plan with the buttons that illuminate so it'll be coming back out soon and the buttons will be resprayed with light emblems on them. I've since found out that it's the superb units that glow green and red rather than all red.

Also got the adapter loom to make it plug and play.

Really like this mod and gives the interior a bit more of a classy feel

Looks very OEM, I like it. What does it actually do over the standard item?

Slightly off the main topic here.... were the dash dials expensive? Are they fairly accurate?

The buttons glow when the headlights are on and gives a low level red glow to the interior basically. Nothing earth shattering but gives it a little luxurious feel to the interior imo.

Not expensive mate, about £25 each and £20 for the holder. The boost gauge is spot on with vcds reading at the same time, the oil pressure and oil temp seem to be ok too going by a mates car with the same dials, they both read pretty much the same.

How did u spray it black??

love the green lights nice work mate, not sure I'd like the red glow though, bit brothel-esque!

With spray paint. Stripped it down and primed and sprayed it.

Same as in any higher spec golf/audi and other vws. The glow isnt overpowering at all.

Interesting, I've never been in one. So the the whole panel is completely OEM?

Yep oem mate. It adds a nice touch of class in my opinion. Ive also read somewhere that they glow red and its not overpowering due to the red recepters in your eyes so it doesnt effect night vision.

Looks spot on that mate, good job! So you say the same unit (but from a Superb) has the green buttons and red LED's as standard? If this is the case will the Superb unit be a straight fit?

I'd be pretty interested in doing this myself :)

Yeah basically the superb unit has green backlit buttons and red leds. Exactly what i have above mate, the passat units are all illuminated red

Looks good

Where did you purchase the light and loom adapter from?

hmm wonder if that will fit my Octavia

I guess it would fit an octy. NOt sure.

Got the light from eBay.de and built the loom from bits I got from tps. A search on here will tell you part numbers.

Oh the light is now £58 from tps hence why I got it from eBay Germany
