Stereo turning itself on...?

Featured Replies

Hi all. Hope someone can help. I have a new (61) plate tsi with the standard bolero stereo.

This last week on at least 4 occasions the car stereo has been on when I have unlocked the car and opened the door.

Stereo is usually on when driving, but turns itself off when the key comes out if the ignition.

Any ideas what might be causing this anyone?!

Thanks.

Charlie.

A colleague of mine had this in his yeti. Eventually it was tracked down to a faulty ignition barrel in which the switch that 'knows' when the key is in was not fully disengaging. Although I think for him it had also caused some funny business to go on with the deadlocks, which caused him to be completely locked out of his own car.

Do you have an SD card reader? Because I also remember reading something on here at the time, that leaving an SD card in the reader sometimes caused phantom switching on issues with the radio.

Hi Thanks for that link. And yes have an SD card in it. Had the car for 6 months and had no problems with SD card till just now. Will get another SD card put in the stereo in the next week or two and see of that makes any difference.

thanks

charlie.

I had a similar problem that turned out to be the SD card, It only seemed to happen when it was cold so i think the SD card may have been contracting slightly due to the cold then as it warmed up again in the morning the card expanded, made contact and the stereo turned on

hi did you sort out the problem?
