Possible DAB add on?

Featured Replies

Anyone tried one of these?

I know the columbus can be made to have AV in, but has anyone added one of these boxes to see if it's any good. No good to me yet as I don't get my car for a few weeks yet but any feedback welcome.

There's a couple of issues with it;

1. It's completely controlled from the remote, so you have the 1p sized remote receiver on the dash which isn't that pretty.

2. The text display it generates is like something from the 1990's Teletext service ie. fugly.

But it works very well indeed.

That's good to know. Certainly an option I'll consider, and it might be an option in another car I have with a TV screen but no DAB. A screenshot would be very useful if at all possible? Pretty please.

I fitted an RCD510 out of a mk6 Golf and added a Calearo DAB/AM/FM Antenna (same brand as the OE aerial on my Octavia). It's the same size as the Columbus/Superb Bolero but has the downside of red LEDs so doesn't quite match. I've not found that to be quite as much of an issue as I thought it would be and, combined with a Fiscon kit, makes for a worthwhile, if expensive, install.

I picked up an RCD310 for the mrs's Golf so she can have DAB too, and paid not a lot for a used one. It'll slot straight in to her car when I get around to it and was a lot cheaper than adding an aftermarket add on.
