I'm planning to add a multimedia Headunit to my Octavia Mk1, and need to feed the headunit with signals from the handbrake (Light green cable), and from the reversing light switch (Purple/white cable)

Where is the easiest place to get those signals from ?

Think the only place for the reversing lights is from the rear lights themselves. Id "forget" the handbrake tho so the passengers can watch tv on the move lol

I've heard about a reversing switch on the gearbox, this must be the one trigering the reversing lights, but where can it be found ?

Would be easier getting the feed from the rear of the car near the lights themselves. Its not hard to hide the wire under the interior sill covers. I fitted reversing sensors that had a display wiring it up and hiding the wires took under 30mins.

I wouldn't mess with the other wiring as its all bundled together and would be easy gettin the wrong one!

I think your wire colours are incorrect.

A good place to pickup the reversing signal is at the connection box in the plenum chamber. The lid is about 125mm square and is under the wiper motor. The reversing signal is the black/blue wire at the 10-pin orange connector.

The handbrake signal is the brown/yellow wire that runs from the handbrake switch to pin-13 of the blue dash insert connector.
