Are the whole wheels going to be satin black, or are you just doing the barrels to make it easier to clean?

Just inside babs. Faces going to be frozen white I think.

I like!

Nice work bro!

That grey chrome is worth seeing in larger scale as it looks like a polished finish.

gun metal.

Black chrome... :)

Ok powder coaters out the question as they are doubtful of the finish i will get and given it would cost £265 i wasnt prepared to be out of pocket and dissapointed.

Plan b, back to painting them myself and to save the hastle of primer, paint then laquer I thought why not use Hammerite spray? lol...

Its only my second light coat and things are going well indeed. Dry time is quick, its glossy, no hastle, durable... the perks are endless.

Late one tonight, just stopped as I ran out of satin black but at least the other three wheels are now in primer and three coats of satin black :)

Picture of it dry this morning.

I am impressed with the finish and I dont even think it needs flatting back.

Top work fella glad yuo didn't bail out.

As you say the benefits of doing them yourself are endless.

not enough bling for my liking though ;)

I had a set of these on my Ibiza once - the 8J all round ones with ET51 - better for stance and adaptors than these Et34 ones.

Mine were powder coated black and then diamond cut. Best finish for these wheels. 215/40/16 tyres suit it best too.

This was the result of getting another can of satin black.

Ta da. All done. A nice satin white finish.

Just layering on the paint sealer at the moment to try and aid the inevitable daily wheel clean lol

Good work, looking smart. Before they go on get as much protection on them as possible. As much as they'll be easy to clean with the nice big face it will be life much easier. I detest cleaning my white wheels, the dirt sticks to them so quickly and it's a real ****** to get off.

Looking forward to the pictures of them fitted

Im on my 6th coat :p just gonna keep going at them. the water just beads off them now and collects as one leaving the wheel dry so its doing something lol

You need to post a photo of the wheels on dude, i need to see this

Yeah they are going ford frozen white, inspired by your car mate.

I wanted to know what suspension setup you were running when you had them on yours? It sat lovely.

Sorry man im not in the UK so im rarely on here. I ran weitecs all the way down and no cups in the rear, 15mm fk's on the front adn 25's on the rear. Il be back on to see the final result soon :) best of luck man

Cheers dude. I need lower mine and get the tyres sorted after its finished in the body shop.

Should look sick when it's all done. Yeah get some coilies man, think my tyres were 205/40/16 and the wheels were 8j, can't quite remember though it's been a while

  • Author

Mine are the 7.5j but with a 195 45 16 tyre. weitecs already on bud just need to remove the adjusters

Yeah the tyre spec you are on about sounds more like i had. Originally ran 205's on the back and 195 on the front so it wouldn't rub but then went for 195 all round. It annoyed me that you cant actually go that low on the rear with the cups in :( think the fronts had 3 threads left on them
