Anyone own/owned and early 1.0 litre Fabia?

Featured Replies

Sorry i meant "an" early 1.0 Fabia anyway...

I meantioned this car in the general car chat about a £1000 Skoda Fabia. I know this car was in the sales brochures up to 2003 but i don't think many found owners. Are there any past or present owners of a 1.0 litre Furby or anyone who has driven one?

I thought this wasn't available in the UK?

It wasn't. The junior was only available in eastern Europe as far as I know.

What do you want to know about it, mate? I know a bunch of junior owners.

Edit: And I have driven one. Two actually.

Errr reason I posted is because it was available in the UK apparently (before the facelift and the htp being introduced). It featured in the Year 2000 brochure and UK price list that I have still. I just wanted to know if any owners were around here that's all as the car popped up in another thread.

That's really weird, because according to the brochure I have (somewhere), the 1.0 was only sold with the Fabia Junior. And as far as I know the Junior was never sold in the UK.

The Junior is the black sheep in the Skoda family that everyone wants to hide. The engine, was/is insanely weak, it didn't even have a bloody glove box, just a hole in the dash. And despite of the fact that Skoda themselves deny this, there were even models without air bags and heaters. (No, not air con. There was no ventilation in them whatsoever.) Hell, on some of them, you couldn't even wind down the rear windows. EDIT: Oh, and no servo either.

The model pictured is a slightly more equipped model, but still Junior trim. I don't know the owner, just a random pic off google.

Hey Dakk: maybe you are right: but it is listed in the UK literature: not as a junior but in base classic trim. Maybe it crept into the brochure by mistake. i have certainly not seen one on the road. I can scan you the brochure if ya like: PM me :)

Oh and that thing looks spartan as hell: did they sell them to the Czech Catholic Church to give to their Priests as a form of penance punishment? :p Definately a hairshirt car.

I remember a 1.0 litre option (50 odd bhp?) when I was looking at buying my first fabia around the start of 2001. I never actually enquired into getting one so never found out about the availability. I just remember thinking it must have been a bit slow....

This suggests it was only available for 3 months before being discontinued. The most exclusive fabia? lol

It also says that the 2.0 had 155bhp. lol

Pmsl missed that bit.

No idea they put th 155 bhp 16v in the Fabia. Was that a continental petrol VRS? I would be peaky (complete opposite to the 1.9 PD) but go like stink I'd imagine. Can't find any reference to it in my L& K Skoda book. Only 2.0 mentioned is the 8 v 115 bhp lump. Only one of those I have seen is MDK1's car.

I think that it was listed when the Fabia was launched, however at the last minute Skoda UK decided not to import any as they considered it too under powered, so they were never officially available in this country.

Its alright, mate, I believe you. It just threw me. Because I know for a fact that the 1.0 only came with the Junior trim. But I'm sure it was among the proposed engines. Fordfan's explanation makes most sense. It would explain your brochure and the fact that are no 1.0's on the roads.

Lol, I dunno. I can tall you that it was physically painful for me to drive it. Imagine the opposite of a speed rush. Also, a stock 1978 VAZ-2101-1300 beats it in a drag race. SOVIET POWER!

It also says that the 2.0 had 155bhp. lol

It also says that the 75bhp VAG engine is 8 valve. "A better bet is the 1.4-litre engine, available in 68bhp, 75bhp and sixteen valve 100bhp guises."

Whoever wrote this pulled the numbers out of his ar$e.
