20,000 service - need part list please :)

Featured Replies

Hey all,

20,000 is due and I'm thinking of paying ICA VW Audi specialist local to me to do it, he is happy for me to provide parts as well.

Can anybody provide me with a list of parts and part numbers if you have them?

I think it's oil, oil filter, pollen filter. Anything I've missed?

Cheers,

Stu.

P.S. 5 litres of VW 502 spec Fuchs stuff is just over £20 on opie at the moment!

I don't know if Skoda is different, but SEAT's latest 'It's Fixed' servicing information seems to show them changing the fuel filter every 20k, when I've been told this is traditionally changed at 40k. They also change the Air Filter every 10k, which I've been told is traditionally every 20k.

Here is a link to that information: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/78928687/Services.pdf

Regardless of the above, you need an Air Filter as well I'd say.

Sorted this now.

Oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, sump plug £47 all in. Buying some NGK8EIX plugs as well to get them changed.

Getting ICA VW Audi to do it for me for £99+VAT so saved quite a bit I think, warranty intact also :)Edit: Shall I get 7EIX or 8EIX cold ratings of spark plugs?

not 502 oil. It is 504/507 5w30 for 1.4 TSI asda castrol edge £35 5L

not 502 oil. It is 504/507 5w30 for 1.4 TSI asda castrol edge £35 5L

502 for fixed servicing (mine)

504 only needed for variable servicing.

502 £19.99 for 5 litres from VW trade parts :)

I'd check if you are on fixed or variable servicing, you may be paying over the odds for oil.

Hi this was on another thead This puts together information I have researched, mostly by contacting Skoda Customer Services, regarding the owner maintenance of the Fabia II VRs 1.4.

Fuel is 98 octane or above; 95 only in an emergency (prolonged use of 95 not recommended)

Oil is Castrol Edge (recommended) 5W-40

Tyre pressures (converted to psi from Bar, rounded to whole numbers) 36psi Front, 34psi Rear (up to 43 loaded, Estate; Hatch may be different, please check)

If you doubt the accuracy of this information please contact Skoda Customer Services for confirmation.

Castrol EDGE 5W-30 carries the VW 504 00 specification which actually also covers VW 502 00 and so this would be a very good oil for your Skoda. Alternatively you can use EDGE 5W-40 (including the Turbo Diesel version - you can ignore the name, it's also very good for petrol engines) which carries the VW 502 00 specification as do a number of our other products. Our 10W-40 products meet VW 501 01, but this is not sufficient for your vehicle.

I hope this answers your query. Please contact us again if you require any further information.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply.

I assure you there is little or no benefit of using 504 spec oil in a fixed servicing vehicle, that is, every 10,000 miles.

Variable servicing uses long life oil (504 spec) and various factors determine when it needs to be changed.

If you are on fixed servicing, it is much cheaper to top up using 502 spec oil. The brand is mostly irrelevant, the fact it meets the 502 spec is good enough already.

For example, 5 litre of Fuchs 502 spec oil can be had for little over £20.

Using 504 in a fixed service vehicle has no benefit, it works fine, it just costs more :)

Hope this helps.

brake pads depending on how much wear you have left

wiper blades, again depending on how much you have left, but not really essential

edit: I think Skoda recommend 2 yearly or 20k brake fluid change (for mine anyway)

brake fluid change on facelift model 3 years/30,000
