Ok well here goes, over the year i've been a member here i've gotten alot of technical knowhow from a few ppl and well now here comes one of my most crazy ideas, and i'am actuly wanthing to do this.

Well my old ford escort ghia saloon tdi's injector pump seal went and now it just ****es out diesel i got a secondhand replacement and it wasn't untill i got the injector pump off it's different, so went to ford and got quoted a whopping £2400 for a replacement injector pump from lucas.

since i got my skoda octavia a4 back in oct of 2010 i love these cars but sadly my black one came accoross a complete bellened of a driver and making it a rightoff so i've since then striped it of all goodies and scraped the the shell, i've since gotten an ambient tdi and made it a vrs replica, but thats just some backgroud to my master plan.

Now the wacky bit comes into play

I want to transplant the octavias alh old tdi engine into my escort, it's not just any old escort it's like an orion at the back and a mk6 escort at the front it's weird, only seen a handfull on the net, so i wanna keep it, i've still got the engine, gearbox, struts, calipers hubs, clocks ecu ect... ect... from my old octavia a4, just want your opinion, make a old ford into german panzer :D

err mental but if you've got the time and expertise do it!

It'll be hard work. I suppose dimensions wise it'd fit but you'd need to be an expert in welding and wiring to get it up and running! Good luck with it

thats a very strange escort/orion mixture!

Did anyone see that collaborative car ford did with someone else...forget who. Think it was mk2 or mk3 escort with a vw possibly. Looked proper odd.

with a mk5 front it's called an orion, but this has a mk6 front so it takes the name escort, it's really an orion to you and me, since only orions were saloons, but i want all the reliability of my muched loved vag group, especialy the reliability of the octavia engines , plus the power to weight ratio would be something like 300kgs lighter, so the car sould have quicker acceleration

LOL the worst thing about Fords is the bodywork rusts! The engines aren't that bad.

do fords still suck for rust? I thought that was just a carry over from the classic fords which I love so much.

You would have thought modern cars wouldnt suffer from rust anymore :) But i suppose they are left out in all conditions !

Well the old dear has got an X reg Fiesta which is showing signs of it on the sills and arches. I had a '95 Fiesta which rusted around the arches and filler cap and two 90's Escorts which rusted again on the arches and on the bulkhead (ended up an MOT fail). So as recently as 12 years ago they were still rust buckets. Fingers crossed the more recent ones are ok!

my drivers arch is beyond repairing the panel, so got a replacement panel for £15 and bought 2 new sills for £10 a side plenty of life left in it.

getting goosebumps about having a skoda ford hybrid, hey they might even class it as a concept car :D

keep us posted with updates :)

not to put a downer on things, but its fair to say theres A LOT more than a handful of these escort saloons around, not rare im afraid, nor are they weird. ford just stopped calling them an orion when the mk6 escort was introduced, just calling them all escorts right across the line

in terms of the conversion, anything is possible, but if it was mine id seriously save yourself a lot of work, and just sell your skoda diesel gear and invest the same money into building a zetec turbo lump with an mtx75 'box which this escort will already have the correct mounts for etc. zetec turbo is a cheap and reliable way to get a seriously fun and nippy motor!

yeah no worries mate, just up my end theres hardly any td ghia with a full leather spec ect.. ect.. but if anyone know a good car electrician it'll be good to know, most of the transplant i can do myself but i'am facing 2 problems, driveshafts "if" they dont sit right, and eithere way the balljoints, if anyone got a good idea would be good to know, cause i'am gona use the tdi calipers
