Best mp3 ripper of the moment?

Featured Replies

Since moving to my new PC I've been trying to get hold of a working version of audio-cr4p-alyst, which although perhaps not super duper, I'd got used to using and liked a lot. BUT, I've lost the setup program off my old machine, and can't find it anywhere to put it on my new XP machine.

BUT - is there any other programs which produce a better rip? I've never noticed discernable differences between MP3s done using different programs. I need to be able to rip at variable bitrates as well, usually 192kpbs, but sometimes at 128 or less, sometimes at 256 or higher.

Thanks (Dad's given me a job to rip some .wav files off a CD, "mp3" them and email them off to a list of people.

I use Neros inbuilt encoder

I just use Windows Media Player that comes with XP.

cdex

I agree - unless you want pretty, in which case go for Audio Grabber...

CDex all the way too - I've not found anything better.

I use this. I haven't used any others so can't compare it.

cdex is great as long as speed is your main objective; EAC rips accurately above all else ;)

Always use windows media player

I've never had a problem with the quality or accuracy of rips with CDex. I almost always rip at 192 and have no complaints.

Winamp or WMP V10, depends which 1 i am listening to at the time.
