AutoDAB Hmmmmm

Featured Replies

I don't know if anyone else has been after one of these, but they have been on and off the Halfords site for about the last 2 months (they fit behind the radio and give full DAB, or so they say).

Well mine arrived and was fitted today, only to be told that the manufacturer has only tried it in a 2008 model and it's not sync'd with the 2011 spec cars (although it says it is on the website).

So if anyone is thinking of one of these, hold off for a couple of weeks, as they are evidently looking at a 2011 car next week.

Also, although the DAB doesn't work at the moment the radio should be uneffected, but I am picking up interferance on FM stations, so another thing that they will hopefully correct.

I will advise how things develop.

Update on this.

Supplier still can't supply a correct unit for my car (2011 Scout) and so had the original unit removed today. Halfords have been very good about it (it's not their fault, the supplier originally said it would suit all post 2008 cars), keeping me regularly informed, but enough is enough. A real shame as the unit fitted completely hidden, except for a small internal windscreen arial.

Have you got a link to the item you have/had?

I'm interested in trying to get digital radio in the car.

Thanks.

Sorry not sure how to do a link, but if you go to the Halfords website, then Audio, then DAB you will see the various AutoDAB units, including one supposedly for Skoda. This is the unit I had fitted and supposedly it works in a 2008 car with steering wheel controls, i just know that it does not work in a 2011 car. Evidently the new Pure Highway works well, but I didn't want anything additional on show.

Best of luck.

Sorry not sure how to do a link,

I started a thread about this item in March this year :( doomed it seems :( a Link to item is in post one I am assuming its the same.

I got really excited about AutoDAB then realised it just sends it over FM. Wasn't sure I saw the point really for 150 squids.

I spotted this post yesterday about using a portable DAB and ran out and grabbed one

It was hidden in the armrest and up and running today in minutes and worth every penny. OK so reception gets a bit dodgy in built-up areas but I am mainly on the motorway and it worked a treat for an hour this morning. If you want to change stations a lot it would be a PITA but I just stick it on 6music and leave it there :->
