door trim panel on SE Plus - is it 1 piece or can the velour be removed separately?

Featured Replies

As in title, can the cloth part of the door trim be levered off separately, without taking the whole door trim off?

I have a creaky driver door handle and before I go and complain to dealer, perhaps there is an easy way to look at it without dismantling the door card completely?

Well in Greece we have the 'Style' trim level and the door panel is a mixture of plastic and fabric. When I had to replace driver's door mirror, dealer took door panel off in one part and not separately and as far as I can remember the rear of the door panel is unified too.

Thanks

Took the door trim panel off last night, it is one piece, the rear could only be removed from the inside of the panel, if ever.

The door handle creak turned out to be broken door lock bowden cable end, really flimsy design this one, probably broken during assembly.

The broken off part should have been designed as a cone, not a cylinder, then it would've been bulletproof.

My level of satisfaction with the Roomster is going down gradually. The whole point of buying a Skoda (I had 2 from new before Roomster) was to not require warranty and wear fixes. Clearly, with this flimsy design it will not be the case with the Roomster.

You are partly right, I am also experiencing some squeaks and creaks from some trim parts (driver door and eyeglasses holder, especially). I also detest some flimsy plastic parts, like the door opening lever. but you must also consider that these are minor issues, compared to bigger problems other car models are experiencing.

And, since you already own a Superb and an Octavia, also consider they are in upper classes, compared to the roomy. You must necessarily lower your expectations, in some features.

I am quite happy to lower my expectations when it comes to hard plastics, noise levels, etc. But we are talking here essential (driver door opener) plastic parts coming broken from factory already, due to both poor workmanship and poor design.

If you saw my other post about lack of grease in key places, and a couple of console assembly related issues (glove box switch and heated seats switches), you will see a pattern of poor quality workmanship emerging. and that is something new in my Skoda experience, whatever the class of the car.

Still, you are right, hopefully if I manage to sort out these and then put 2000+ (hopefully) trouble free miles on the Roomie during half term break (1st week of June) , my opinion on the car recovers :sun:

Well, problems that I found on my Roomster 2011 is power socket not working in the boot and cruise control switch arm not working. Not possible to use the "Set (+)". It all was sorted out. But again, why not make it right the first time?

Had my Octavia for 6 years, never had any problems.

Replaced the cable today, easy job as long as you order replacement membrane/lock access hole cover to go with the cable, all problems sorted now.

I also put a skid plate on today, steel reinforced plastic, looks very tough, definitely better protection than stock plastic cover. No more worries over bumps and potholes.

One other thing I found was that instrument cluster trim squeaked quite a bit, fixed with silicone sponge tape.

No more rattles/problems, hopefully we can enjoy the Roomie now for the next few thousand miles... :sun:
