Under-bonnet soundproofing.... does it exist?

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, the bonnet seems to have all the grooves and holes relevant for fixing sound dampening felt stuff.

Any idea where I can get this from - if it even exists?

Have had a look at some Fabs in local scappies and they all have bare bonnets as well :wonder:

I'm hesitant about making my own - can see it turning into a fireball on a long journey :giggle:

Don't quote me, but I think some Ibiza's came with extra sound proofing that can be fitted.

Both my diesels have soundproofing on the bonnet.

Yup mines got sound proofing, not sure it does a great deal though lol

Mine has it too, but does naff all to kill sound lol. Most of my old cars I took it off and polished under bonnet as I'm anal. But some cars arent painted under it. :/

Same, although I dunno how I'd feel about doing the same to a dirty derv...

You could always buy audio sound proofing like Silent Coat or Dynamat and put that underneath the OEM proofing, that would help.

I had a genuine under bonnet sound deadening pad fitted to my fathers 1.2 comfort before he took delivery new in 2004,sure it was only £18 and the supplying stealer fitted it for free at the pdi.

All vRS have the bonnet sound deadening fitted. As others have said, not sure how much it does.

was thinking about this... guessing it must be reasonable heat proof then as well?

cheers for all the responses

The fact that cars have a grill makes all the soundproofing pretty pointless :)
