Turbo developed a whine on spool up (video)

Featured Replies

Its more apparent when the engine is moving / underload. you can only hear it when the turbo spools up, and kind of on the way down. the powers still there but the turbo doesnt seem as responsive it seems to kick in a little latter. I Immediately think the veins are getting clogged.the turbo doesnt perform the same in gear 1 or 2 when boost is building up. MPG is great, power seems fine.

its like an electronic whine almost

Any other ideas? (please note the turbo is custom from jabba and the exhaust is bigger bore straight through)

check for codes

check boost using vagcom/vcds

check boost pipes for leakage

sounds like a goosed turbo vein prob a bits come off or its bent need to take the inlet off and check the veins and see if there is any damage or movement

Checked the above yesturday everything tight! all i saw was oil by the turbo outlet where the two joints meet, but i presumed this is normal as the metal joints have a little play in them anyway.

Im almost 90% sure its the veins so thanks for the comfirmation guys!
