Possible New Roomster.

Featured Replies

I am test driving a new Roomster on Saturday with the intention of buying one - it is the 1.2 TSI in SE trim. I would be taking the advantage of the 25% off offer - i also have a trade in.

I have read review after review on the Roomster and nobody has a bad word to say about it - in fact every review thinks its great.

Am i doing the right thing buying a roomster ? - i am convinced i am.

with the 1.2 TSI SE currently being sold at 10.3K, will the dealer still have room to move on the deal ? - i was thinking of asking for a couple of fee extra's - spare wheel and roof rails - what do you think ? will the dealership be on a tight margin at this price ?

Roof rails essential if you ever intend to use a rack or bars. Nobody supplies an aftermarket one. Spare wheel is a good one too.

Whether the petrol or diesel model is best for you depends on your intentions for it. Petrol is wisest if you do a lot of town driving.

Roof rails for sure. I think the car looks better with them fitted. And I am sure that you will not regret your choise.

Hi Cowimars and welcome to the Forum.

If the dealer is already offering 25% off, it is doubtful he will budge any further. But you have nothing to lose by trying.

I agree the spare wheel is essential and I think the roof rails are worth having as well. Roof rails are difficult and expensive to retro-fit. Also consider specifying a head restraint for the centre rear seat - it is not standard fit.

If you ask the members of a Roomster Forum if you are doing the right thing buying a Roomster, you will only get one answer :D Seriously though, I have had mine nearly three years and I still love it. It is by some margin the best car I have ever owned. I am sure you will not regret your purchase.

Incidentally, I love diesels and have owned diesel-engined cars for many, many years. But my next Roomy will be a 1.2TSI. It is a cracker of an engine.

I got a Roomster 1.2TSI in blue, coming from a Octavia 1.9TDI, the 1.2TSI is a really great engine. The only thing I miss some time is the torque from the 1.9TDI. But overall I really love the car. Great car!

If you hope to get more discount, then you properly can if you plan to get tow bar, alu wheels etc.

Hi, I was looking at the 25% offer as well but thought that you couldn't add any optional equipment to the order. I assume the deal is because they have a job lot to get rid of in specific colours etc and standard spec?

I have just read the small print and now realise the same - that you cant add any options - or it apperas that way anyway. can you confirm that this is the case?. This might stop the whole deal for me now - we like to take out bikes away for the weekends etc and like to put them on the roof - dont like the idea of them hagging off the back as they ineviatable scrape the paint work or bash the car. Other option would be fit a towbar and buy a towbar carrier - but that is looking a very costly option. A bit of a dilemna for me

Even if you don't like the spec of the 25% offer model there is still the no VAT offer on DSG models and this will include factory fit options saving 20% on these as well as the car.

Roomster DSGs are excluded from 0% VAT offer.

0% VAT model exclusions: Fabia 1.4 SE, VRS and DSG. Octavia Scout and 4x4. Superb Estate all diesel models. Roomster DSG models. All Yeti models

0% APR Representative model exclusions:Fabia 1.4 SE. Fabia S, SE, SE Plus, Monte Carlo, Greenline, VRS and DSG models. Octavia S, SE, SE Plus, VRS, Greenline, Scout and 4x4 models. Superb Hatch S, SE, SE Plus. Superb Estate all diesel models, S, SE, SE Plus Petrol models. Roomster S, SE, SE Plus, Greenline and DSG Models. All Yeti models

Apologies misread the page to say includes not excludes. My bad :wall:

Repent! :devil::rofl:

More seriously, this 0% VAT model exclusions shows what sells well with Skoda badge on it:

Fabia 1.4 SE, VRS and DSG. Octavia Scout and 4x4. Superb Estate all diesel models. Roomster DSG models. All Yeti models

I have checked on howmanyleft.co.uk website the numbers for Roomsters and Yetis, and Yetis outsell Roomie nearly 3:1. The SUV magic continues... Too bad the Yeti has less room than Roomster, no realistic full size spare (it is a lot of hassle to retrofit), uses more fuel and costs 50% more....and you wait for delivery 4-5 times longer (months instead of weeks).

I have had my 1,2 TSI 105 bhp SE ( second roomster i have owned ) for a couple of months , love the car .However the car was in a dealers stock , i had it within 7 days , i have to say this car had factory fitted extras " ROOF BARS , SPARE FULL SIZE , FRONT FOGS WITH DRL , MAXI DOT . The SE is a good spec car but the SE + has a better spec more to your needs , if i were you i would look around other outlets i feel sure you will be able to find what you are looking for ( try Bickerton of sheffield they tend to buy in SE models with factory fitted options )

I don't understand how hey can sell the Roomster so cheap, as you say more space and more economical than the yeti. The yetis is nice but not worth the extra cost for me :)

Case study :

You are a bussinessman and you need a private secretary with whom you will spent a lot of time and maybe travel abroad for closing agreements. After some HR procedures there are two finalists.

First one is an average secretary with adequate typing skills, speaking two languages BUT she is tall, thin, blond, 25 y. o. ,blue eyed, having nice breasts and prety juicy back view, wearing short skirt and nice parfume and of course single.

The other one is a middle aged secretary, short, a bit fatty, married and a mother of two kids, wearing long skirt and a hat and also thick old fashioned presbyopic eye glasses BUT she is speaking seven languages, has excellent typing and organizing skills, a university degree and is willing to accept a lower wage.

Of course both of them can do the job you want them for, but put your hand in your heart and answer me. Who would you like to see every morning?

Unfortunately Roomster is the ugly duck of Skoda family, having a lot of "hidden talents". And as I use to say makes heads turn either for good or bad but does exactly the job is created for. Moving families as comfortable as it can gets.

Lol! Well I'm old enough now to go with Mrs Practical, plus who knows she may be a but of a goer on the quiet! :)

Lol :-) great case study.

 !

Unfortunately, your pin-up secretary will soon erode your bank account with luscious clothes, dinners, gifts, travels...

The only advantage I see in a 2WD Yeti is that is Golf-platform based, and should consequently be more solid, comfortable and quiet.

Furthermore, ground clearance could be an advantage in some situations.

Streetwise, cons are more than pros. The Yeti is a bit more comfortable with more sophisticated rear suspensions, but its big front section makes it no quieter than a Roomster at speed. Add some more weight, and running costs are getting higher than expected.

Well, my answer to the dealer try to selling me a Yeti instead of a Roomster is always the same: if I ever need a 4WD, I will surely take it into consideration :giggle:

Number 2 if her salary is similarly less than the Roomy is from the Yeti.
