Steering wheel buttons heating!

Featured Replies

Hello,

I swapped my 4 spoke regular steering for a 3 spoke multifunction steering with paddles around 5 months back. Over the last month or so i've noticed that the steering buttons start to get warm when the lights are on. This happens ONLY when the green illuminated button lights are on and it never happens during the day when the lights are off. It is more evident on the left side steering buttons when compared to the right. Im not suggesting that it gets scalding hot but heat can clearly be felt over the buttons..

Has anyone experienced this?? Is this common? I spoke to the skoda service centre guys who claimed that its normal but i wasnt convinced.

It's normal, the illumination of the buttons is generating the heat.

thanks...relieved!! I thought it was an electrical problem due to the multifunction steering wheel retrofit..

Its still quite odd that my left side steering buttons tend to heat up more than the right side..

Any explanation as to why my left side steering button heat up much more than the right side?

The difference is easily noticeable and quite significant..

Where did you get your steering wheel from please?

Got mine for skodateile.

But its not a problem with the steering. I swapped mine with my friends vrs multifunction steering for a few days and still had the same problem.

On the back of some MF steering wheels on the left hand side, there should be a round little bobble, if you press it it will turn the steering wheel button lights on or off.
