Gotten pretty bored of my A1 and Im pretty set on going back to second hand and getting a vrs! I'm a mechanic and worked on a fair few but just wondering if there's anything else to really watch out for when buying one?

Console bushes, rear door seals, angle sensor, window regulators, everything else is pretty much standard stuff and non of it should pose a problem for you.

Why the step back?

Honestly miss having the torque of a diesel! And not that impressed with the build quality of it. And fancy a car I can mess around and fiddle with more! Just tracking down a decent se one now!

Anyone know of any vrs se's about? Hopefully get a bit if money back from my a1 so I can get the last bits together for my mk2 escort!

As much as I like the Mk1 Fabia, the interiors are bland, horrible places... and coming from the A1 to that? Compared with the 1.4 TSI, there won't be a massive amount more usable torque in the old-tech PD engine.

But hey ho... you should be able to find a decent SE, as most were cared for I'd imagine; the odd one falling into the "wrong" hands.

I know exactly where you're coming from but the a1 is soo isolated from every part of the car to an extreme!

And if I had a choice id much rather have a bland interior over a stylish specced up car - a lot less distractions!

If I had the choice id be driving my mk2 everyday!

And the pd is a well proven engine, still not that sure on small cc forced ind. engines.
