VRs engine problems

Featured Replies

I have owned my VRs a year now and today its all gone wrong!!

The car has been remapped but was before I bought for a bout 3 years and it never had any issues. (my mate owned it)

Well today I was driving along accelerating and there was a pop noise and a load of black smoke out the exhaust. There was a total loss of power too.

I pulled over into a carpark and as I rolled in the car sort of spluttered and cut out.

I then tried starting the car and it failed to start. Then it finally did start but cut out straight away. I called the RAC as I am a memeber and had no clue what to do myself. 2 hours 30 mins later they arrived. In the mean time I had a check myself and realised that there was no ol in the engine, the dip stick showed nothing.

Finally the RAC arrived and a litre and a bit of oil was put in the engine and it started up with a load of black smoke billowing out the back and he said it was running on 3 cylinders. He turned it off and then tried to start it but it wouldn't. I got towed home as it seemed the only option as deciding which garage to take it to is a minefield anyway, let alone when this guy is telling me the head will need to be taken off the engine etc.

Does anybody have any ideas what could be the issue? Initially I was thinking turbo failure but the car would still drive just with no power, correct?

Thanks in advance

if there has been no oil then id expect the engine to be stuffed. Its probably seized up and knackered the bottom end which would cause it to missfire as the pistons/rods/crank are fubar. The turbo also needs oil so could have knackered that aswell and if thats gone bang then the bits are probably somewhere inside the engine. Either way id get your cheque book out and find some lube.
