Remote locking/unlocking problem - Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Pulled up on my dads drive, both front windows open, jumped out and held down the locking buton on the remote - nothing happened!

Pressed it a few times, still nothing. Got back in manually closed the widows, tried to remote lock it, nothing. Locked it with the key ok. Wouldn't unlock with the remote, unlocked it with the key, alarm went off, started the car no probs, still wouldn't lock or unlock with the remote. Locked it with the key and left it for about an hour.

Went back to it, to go home, still wouldn't unlock with the remote, so used the key and the alarm went off, started it ok and drove home.

When i got home, jumped out and it locked ok! Tried it a few times all ok, and still ok this morning.

Just wondered if anyone had seen this problem before, and if its a sign of problems to come?

Once my keyfob was unable to lock/unlock the car from distance, but was working near the car. Then I tried to do so with my second keyfob and worked perfectly. Then again I tried the primary keyfob and it was and still is working fine. When that happened the car was parked amongst many VWs and Skodas at supermarket's parking.

Of course there is the possibility to accidentally have the keyfob pressed many times, especially if it is kept in trousers pocket, and lost its coordination to car's receiver. Then it just can be an empty keyfob battery.

Just change the battery it's only cheap, mine played up when it was only 3 months old and the dealers were going to charge me £11 for a new battery when you can pick them up for £2 no problem since.

£16 grand plus for a car and they wanted £11 for a battery would of told them to stick it and no more custom and gone to another dealers

I did make a comment about this, but batteries are not covered by the warranty and for the sake of a couple of quid I did not have the time to argue.

Happened to me 3 times now. The first time it was reset but isn't a major problem just lock the car with the key and it's right 10 mins later

This has been posted a few times, it seems to be a known issue, but no solution has been given as far as I have seen.

It seems to be a very intermitant issue ans as you can still lock it with the key, and it will sort itself out in half an hour I am not worrying about it!

Mine has done this 3 or 4 times, now I recognise when it happens, so I just lock it with the key and dont bother trying to sort it out because I usually set off the alarm like you did...

Ah! Thanks all, I'll stop worrying.

Cheers

Happened to mine repeatedly, and to others elsewhere on this forum - all with slightly different symptoms. You need to take the car in for warranty retro work, maybe a day tops. They will need to add some diodes to the central locking system inside the door cards - all problems will then disappear, no worries.

I agree with Unforgettable. Dealer replaced diodes in mine which solved the problem.

Ahh, First I have heard of the Diodes being replaced/fitted... I will mention this at next service, but as its so intermitant for me, Im not worried.

Cheers

My 1.2 TSI was fixed last Monday - along with intermittent power windows.
