Hi All

I drive an Octavia TDI estate and to date have been very pleased, with all aspects. I drive approx 40,000 miles a year, and have been informed the cam belt needs changing at 80,000 miles, which is very soon.

Can any members confirm if this is absolutely neccessary or can they in general terms achieve a higher mileage before they need changing?

Also, can anybody recommend a warranty deal, either through Skoda or independently supplied for high mileage vehicles.

Lastly, are there any faults to be aware of, that are found in Octavia's as the mileage increases?

Thanks

Speaking purely of cambelts, god knows i've flogged that dead horse in the forums on this.... :)

Contact Skoda UK and they will get back to you with an exact mileage/age requirement.

Guy I dealt with, customer relations manager, was John Good. He may be able to help with the warranty question too.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

How old is the car?

Hi - Thanks for the welcome, the car is 2 years old, although i own it, it is used for business, instead of a company car - hence the mileage.

Although i receive an allowance, etc with the high cost of fuel, i naturally need to keep all of my running costs as low as possible!

Hi and welcome aboard.

Wouldn't bother trying to extend the warranty with Skoda.

If they let you do it it's £525 for 5yr/100000mile.

That would only get you 6 months.

Save your money and wing it with your fingers crossed.

Cambelt needs doing at 80k, worthwhile doing waerpump at the same time. Check out UNIT18 site sponsor for a very good deal using genuine parts throughout.

Welcome to the forum too :hi:

Hi All - thanks for the comments, over the weekend i was recommended to warrantyworks.co.uk who have quoted £219.21 for 12months, without mileage restrictions, upto £1000 per claim.

Cheers Guys
