Full size spare wheel fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hopefully one of you, may be able to answer this one!

Why bother putting a full size spare wheel (with a W rated tyre on), and then slap a sticker on it, which limits you to 50 mph when you come to use it???

Surley a space saver would be better, more boot space, less weight and greater performance!!!

My only guess is that its to do with the spare being a steely and not an alloy, could this upset the balance of the car at speed?

No. Why would it? It's exactly the same size.

Skoda are just protecting themselves from any claims from driving too fast on missmatched wheels, but i would feel safer on a full size steel wheel than the crap that peugeot supply, infact all you get with the 206gti 180 is a cannister of pressurised foam and no spare.

Surely Fabia vRS tyres are directional (asymetric?) so should only really go on one side of the car. Hence you can only switch them round front-to-back, not diagonally. Because you don't carry 2 spares, there's an even chance it will go on the 'wrong' side - hence the 50 mph limit.

Whilst were on the subject (blatent thread hijack - sorry :o )

Does anyone know if the spare fits over 312mm breaks? Never considered it...?

True...but then again the GTI 180 runs on run-flats. The BMW 645i has no spare whell, and it runs on run-flats too.

Still kinda sucks not to have a spare though.
