Featured Replies

Could someone please advise who has bought a brand new superb recently, what is the co2 figure declared on your V5 registration document??

Hi - mine states 151g/km - this is with a manual gearbox.

Hi - mine states 151g/km - this is with a manual gearbox.

Have you noticed that in the literature for the car it states emissions as 149 and then your log book comes through at a higher figure?

I wouldnt normally worry, but as a result of this higher figure it puts it into a higher road tax category. So instead of paying £135 we pay £170.

Can anyone else advise, maybe if someone has got the original brochure from when they bought the car some years ago (still Superb II 170bhp) and can advise if it was in this position then.

Hi I got my Hatchback Elegance 170 4 weeks ago and the V5 shows 149g of CO2. My brochure shows the hatchback at 149g and the Estate version at 151g. Does this help

Hi, My superb Elegance hatch 170cr 4x4 says 163g on the V5

I have just checked the broucher (Nov 2011) which states for a 140 CR 6 speed manual as 145 but my V5 states 143.

The same broucher shows 151 for a 170 6 sped manual.

I believe the weight of the vehicle and wheel size can affect the CO2 emissions. Upgrading from 17" to 18" wheels for example will change the CO2 rating, also weight added to the car through extras in the past affect CO2 emissions.

If you refer to page 27 of the late 2012 brochure it states extras can increase weight and affect consumption and I guess your car is not standard.

Just looked at my V5 and it states 237 against 235 brochure but I have a host of extras that add weight Pana Roof and Sound system are worst culprits.

Mine has gone from 145 to 143 and I have added L&K, heated windscreen, space saver and quite a few other things so I would have expected mine to have gone up. This is the reason why you cannot have some "toys" on the Greenline due to weight effecting CO2.

I wouldnt think they do that, because whenever you see cars coming off the production line they don't get their engines dyno'd. If they did they wouldnt be able to produce the volume of cars they do.

I think they do have different readings depending on wheel size, gearbox, and drive train (ie, 4x4) but with regards other things like roof, radio, etc I think they are just extra.

I know they will have an effect on emisions when driving but at the MOT your car is stationary so the only variables are wheel size, gearbox, etc. Overall car weight not relevant.

If someone can advise (with explanation) that these optional extras are relevant and do in fact make a difference.

I think the difference most people seem to be quoting is the difference between the hatchback and the estate. Are you sure you're looking at the right place in the brochure? On the page that gives the emission figures, the hatchback is listed above the estate.

Different optional extras also affect the figure, the Co2 figures quoted in the brochure are for a standard car. Some options affect will increase the Co2 figure, thus bringing the car into the next tax bracket.

For example my old PD140 Octavia with 16" wheels was in a different tax bracket to a PD140 octavia fitted with the optional Luna 17" wheels. its also why you never used to be able to spec a spare wheel on on the fabia greenline because if you could the Co2 emissions would increase due to the increased weight and take it into the next tax bracket.
