Anyone one else got an annoying "clonk" coming from the rear of vehicle. sounds internal, possibly rear door "lock area"

Tried removing parcel shelf and anything else that could possibly be the cause but undiscovered as yet...

Starting to become a real bugbear

When does it happen???

Totally random, cant say it happens over bumpy roads or smooth surfaces .. Can go from A to B ,no noise, turn round B to A :-( noise back

Thought at first it was a fault on the central locking maybe partial release of boot catch but even tried getting out and slamming the boot, no change...

Additional info, no spare wheel option, No extras..

I have read of a problem with the tailgate latch, sorry I can't remember the precise details but think it involved replacing the "U" shaped metal counterpart.

I thought it wasn't the tailgate latch but the catch on the rear doors.

I thought later models came with a cover over the u shaped bar, and that it could also be "solved" by adjusting the rubber bumpstops slightly.

Wrapped electrical tape round the 'keep plates' on mine; both front and back. Reduced the odd noise over rough road surfaces.
