Fabia 105 Cr Tdi Estate - 2nd Year Service Costs

Featured Replies

Have obtained 3 main dealer quotes so far:-

Two were for £294 & the best was £199 - all inc VAT & brake fluid change. All also included a courtesy car.

Questions:

1. Is the brake fluid change absolutely necessary, as the car has only 13,000 miles on the clock?

2. Are these prices about right?

Brake fluid absorbs water over time, so it would need changing after two years even if the car hadn't been driven.

Pretty sure brake fluid is now 3 years on newer models, so I'd be happy leaving it till then at least.

I have a mobile mech who used to be a VW master tech. You can leave it up to 5-7 years without changing and regardless of age it is only moisture that affects it and it can be tested for water content.

So unless you have sat the car on the drive with the brake fluid cap off i wouldn't bother for another year or two. Its just another money making scheme by the stealer.

£199 isn't too bad inc brake fluid but bear in mind that 2nd service will be no different to the first. I paid £130 for my first service.

I had mine 2nd serviced this week at 19380 miles. Included the brake fluid and a pollen filter change. The cars brakes are better and it smells nice when the fan is on!! I was charged £313 but I had to order a new key which was £40 because I lost one  and a paint stick for a couple of stone chips for a £10.

So about £250 seems about right. I did see that all the servicing costs are fixed by Skoda UK so there is unlikely to be much variation in price.......
