A Wolfs Tale

Featured Replies

Hi All,

A while ago I posted that I was considering getting my Fabia VRS remapped, and finally I have taken the plunge and decided I'm going to do it (now my insurance is up for renewal!). I have been in touch with Rapid Remaps as I was recommended by someone I know that they were really good - he has a tuned 118d M Sport. The owner of Rapid Remaps also has a VRS on a '56 Plate, so I assume he knows what he's doing. Oh and the quote to remap to approx 170bhp ... £200! (are there any other remappers who are good but cheap?)

Before I get it mapped next month I am getting a new standard panel filter (can anyone recommend a performace panel filter that will fit into the standard box?) and I have ordered my PD160 intake from Seat. It's only costing £12 + VAT!!!

Are there any other mods which can be done to keep it stealthy but a bit of an animal, my insurance don't charge for performance mods like suspension/exhausts/filters etc and performance mods such as a remap where 10+ BHP is seen are well cheap!

Cheers

Dave

Brakes and suspension in lowered slightly/subtly?

Got to ask though - who's this insurance firm!?

Performance air filter is pointless on just a remap. Standard paper filter is not restrictive and is good for 220+ bhp.

No way will you get a PD160 intake from Seat for £12. Maybe that's just the air filter you're buying?

Have SEAT dropped the price then? It was around 90quid last time I

checked for a pd160.

Don't forget there are two parts - he may have ordered the cheaper bit?

My insurance company is called Brentacre Insurance. They are awesome. Im 21 (when I got the policy), 2yrs NCB, 2 crashes and £900 f/c. They are specialists in modified cars and specific vehicle lines - VRS is on of them!

Cheers for the advice. And I requested on the phone a PD160 intake, the sales guy replied does it attach to the front of the car to the airbox with a slight bend to the wing, where I said yeah. Unless I'm mistaken thats the bit I need.

Thanks! :)

Think I tried them last my insurance was due, but I was only 20 at the time, and needed to be 21. It's due in a few weeks but I'll try again now I've hit that magical age. That's pretty good considering the crashes - I've got a quote of £500 on my Polo with 0 NCB (using them on the BMW) at 21 which I thought was good - will see if they can beat it.

Anyway, back on topic. . .

Interesting if that's turns out to be the right parts then

And I requested on the phone a PD160 intake...

LMAO. I'm pretty sure yeah! I'm heading over there in about a week to go and see if its the right part and that. If so I'll post it on here so peeps know! Are there any other tips for modding my motor then keeping looking standard?

312mm brakes look pretty standard :)

Have you taken some off a TT 225 by any chance then lol. I also see that you have a whiteline RARB, but wouldn't it be better to get the Bilstein/Eibach B12 spring/shock kits instead - costs around £550.

Does anyone know what cleans the cloth VRS seats well too?! I tried ambercleans but it didn't work!!

Rarb makes more of a pronounced difference on standard suspension.... But Rarb and coilovers is awesome ;)

This has been discussed so soooooo many times...

...Hire a RugDoctor from Morrisons for a night, get some stardrops... and use as the instructions say on the seats. It'll not only clean the marks off the seats, but it'll suck the crud out of the foam as well!

Then buy some scotchguard and scotchguard the hell out of them ;)
