do the front grille lat slats do any aerdynamioc function

Featured Replies

On the front upper grille of the fabia (pre fl at least) top half the grill is 'fake' and there are slats on the lateral pieces which indent in. Do they do anything?

I want to add chrome strips but was wondering if covering them up would reduce air going into the engine bay.

I find find a pic if i can

if you zoom in, you can see the slats

I've cut all of them out to allow greater airflow on my vrs. Probably to help the engine warm up faster.

how did you cut them?

Add your strips ;)

Very sharp Stanley knife and then a file to make them perfect.

why's the top half covered in the first place

To make sure the engine runs red hot scorching! Lol

Just done this today (my first pikey mod lol). Left the ones above the VRS badge in place as it seems to guard the air intake, I guess from driving rain.

Was a lot easier than I thought it would be, didn't need to remove grill just need to remove these bits so i could cut the tops out from the inside

Will have to see if it makes any difference at all

The slats in front of the intake arent guna make any difference to stopping rain going up there as the air has to be sucked upwards by the slam panel anyway.

I have a 4 inch feed right behind the grill and never had a problem.
