hows it drive after egr delete?

Featured Replies

I disconnected the egr and put a blank on top of the exhaust manifold, also did the top breather mod at the same time. So far done just over 200mies with the mods and not sure about the drive now. I seem to have to change gear later and it doesnt seem to through you back in the seat anymore when putting foot down,

just wanted to see if anyone esle had noticed a difference?

thanks

Did you take off any sensor plugs to make room for work and then forget to plug it back in? i changed my air filter other day and couldnot figure out why it was gfoing so slow until i realised maf sensor was still unplugged. incidentally my octy improved on power a little, mpg went up a little, turbo more willing.

everything back where it should be, Still got power just feels different, strange but it doesnt feel like a diesel anymore

anyone esle notice this?

I can't see why deleting the EGR would lose some power/torque. Keep an eye on it and be :) :) :) that the engine is only consuming clean air as opposed to recycled exhaust gases as well. :)

what is the egr? what are the advantages of deleting it? are the allard delete kits good?

EGR = Exhaust gas recirculation, its an emissions thing where some of the exhaust gases are sent back through the engine for a second time therefore recycling it. Disconnecting it requires that the EGR be mapped out via a remap otherwise the engine light will come on, and your car may well run lean without being compensated for since the EGR air is unmetered, unlike the incoming air.

The only thing I can think of in the short term is the car hasn't adapted the way it runs without the EGR doing anything, so perhaps it just needs to be run for a while and it will adapt. Same principle that being really gentle for a long time then asking for max power, will result in copius smoke and not max power. If you ask for max power after a bit of a thrashing, it (or at least mine is) will give more power and less smoke.

will leaving the eml on make a difference? does it need to be mapped out?

yes the eml needs mapping out otherwise you will fail your m.o.t buddy

Well EML is symptomatic of the EGR not being mapped out. Need to delete the EGR from the car's workings. Is possible if your mapper knows their way around the car's software. My car doesn't even realise it has an EGR or MAF :D

will leaving the eml on make a difference? does it need to be mapped out?

might sound llike the bleedin' obvious but it only needs mapping out if it's a problem as a 2005 model you might get a way with it suck it and see :-)

Hi.

Since one month i'm driving without the egr and instead mounted a racepipe.

And it was the best thing i've ever done!

No shaking, no ruggling and more, just a smooth Run ig the engine !

Only when i turn off the engine you hear a shattering and in winter the coolant needs more Time to get hot!

But it has to be set out in the software! It dont, the EU4 engine would run in the "safety mode" (i dont know the word in english )

It can be turned off in the software. Theirs a switch in 8 bit form close to the smoke via MAF or MAP switch.

Remember the EGR only works on part throttle. Doesn't work when at WOT.

Ober 2500 rpm its also inactive

Yup However it does vary. Seen some golf files that are set a little higher up the rev range.
