Indicator as sidelight?

Featured Replies

The BMW 5 Series has orange front facing markers integrated into the headlight unit, however it also still has separate side lights illuminated too.

If the Octavia I pictured above earlier also had it's sidelights illuminated I don't think it would be so much of an issue (from a legality perspective)?

But doesn't the BMW have directional indicators independent from the marker lights also or does that orange marker light flash when indicating making it a directional indicator? If its merely a marker light it has no bearing on another vehicle having its directional indicators illuminated permanently then flashing when indicating, its just a marker light. I agree though that both would need to be on not just the indicators permanently illuminated.

The Jaguar S-Type has them too - although it could be argued that these are actually side markers and not front/rear facing...

Yes you are right, there is a separate indictor bulb that works independently to the LED marker light 'eyebrows'...
