2 stroke or bio diesel as an additive to diesel?

Featured Replies

Just spent ages surfing around the web from an initial post on the a2oc about 2 stroke oil being added to tank of diesel. With the 3cylinder tdi not being the smoothest of engines I can see why they would want to do this.. :D

Seems to be very popular with transit owners as well prolonging the life of the pumps. Ended up reading a rather long topic on dieselplace.com about additive lubricity started by Spicer so I am left wondering what do the diesel drivers of Briskoda use as an additive in their cars? Is the PD suitable for adding stuff? Is 2 stroke or biodiesel best?

Forgot to say that swmbo has a Passat 130PD and we are looking at getting an A2 90PD so if adding stuff can improve it then it's about time I looked after her car as much as I do "the skip" :D

I know many diesel owners wich use 2 stroke oil most during the winter. They say the cold start is smoother.

I would stay away from biodiesel,it's corosive with time. You need special fuel lines for biodiesel.

I use Millers Eco Max diesel, have done for a year and wont use anything else

Dos that include using bio diesel as an additive at 2% ? Or as a replacement fuel?

using 2% of biodiesel on a full tank of diesel is nothing,I can't see the logic of doing that...2%of 2Stroke oil is a different story.

You must use at least 15% of biodiesel in a full tank of diesel to have some effect.

And vice versa, you can find biodiesel on european market wich contains 20% petroleum diesel.

And yes,as a replacement fuel for biodiesel you need special fuel lines and others, because biodiesel is corrosive to rubber.

I chuck a 1 shot bottle of redex engine cleaner into a full tank fill-up every 5k. always did it with my petrols too. dont let the fuel level drop below 1/3 tank for a couple of fills helps keep it working, though at a lower ratio for a bit longer. kept the VAG 3 cylinder petrol burner smooth. right up until the cam shaft popped a cog tooth and the engine died :giggle: unrelated to the additives though!!!! Im applying the same regime to the diesel since i got it in January. much improves the economy too.

I was told not to use Redex as the chemicals in them where to harsh compared to the likes of Millers, so i switched from Redex to Millers and noticed a much better response
