Octavia 1.9TDI when were Siemens Injectors Introduced?

Featured Replies

Hello to the forum!

I've just joined the forum and have been reading through lots of priceless info from the members. I am currently trying to choose a motor to replace my focus 1.6 petrol for towing a caravan.

I have gathered that as far as reliability goes, the 1.9TDI is the one to go for. I know it has a DMF which is unavoidable. But if it gives trouble it can be modified to a single mass.

I also understand that skoda didn't put the DPF filters into the cars until 2009. Therefore I am looking at a pre 2009.

However I'm also worried about the injectors on the 1.9TDI PD engines as I have read that the siemens injectors that replaced the bosch are trouble.

So as octavia mk2's start from 04, I'm looking from 04 to when? As long as the bosch injectors were still being used basically.

Which years are ok to buy from to avoid the worst of problems with injectors and dpf?

It also seems that I can use the engine code to confirm things, but looking through the classifieds its easiest to work with years.

Please correct me if the info above is wrong is all gathered from internet sites... Im no car mechanic!

Thanks in advance

1.9TDI never had Siemens injectors, all Bosch injection system including ECU

great news... thanks for your quick reply. One other (probably stupid question!) Are all 1.9TDI's ' PD ' engines

All Mk2 Octavias with a 1.9 are PD.

Thanks guys very friendly useful forum (unlike some others)... will be sticking around once I buy!

The 1.9 engine didn't ever have a DPF in the Octavia and was available right through to mid 2010.
