FL Octy - easy location for ignition live?

Featured Replies

So took the plunge today and decided to fit one of the autointelligence blueconnect bluetooth car kits to my 2009 Octy.

Got the kit frm eBay a few weeks back, brand new all boxed with loom, panel etc - kit part number is ZGB 1Z3 060 005 if anyone ever needs to know?

Fitted today...bit of an issue fitting the quad connector interface but did it in the end, the only thing now is the kit has a blue wire connected to the back of the bolero unit which the manufacturer must think is an ignition live....its not its a fixed live.

Therefore with ignition off the unit remains live!

So my question is, rather than me testing the loom does anyone know of an easy ignition live that I can tap into?

Ive checked the bolero and I was positive that there was an ignition feed but if there is I cant see it?

Ideally it needs to be passenger side dash or even up in the headliner as i can connect at either end.

Thanks, Steve

there are multiple solutions to that. In my own OII FL I drew an extra wire from the driverside fuse box to my carkit, its easy to find which unused fuse slots are ignition live's with a voltmeter, every carpartstore sells those easy-to-fit cables. connect the cable to the back of the fusebox and draw the wire

another solution is to use a wire from the climatronic switches those are also ignitions live wires, but don't mess that up...its almost summer/hot :)

Fusebox is the way to go.

Good luck with the blueconnect, you may need it. The system has a number of issues, one of which is that due to the weight it has a tendancy to fall out of the headling of its own free will on bumpy roads. its not the best system and the full OEM kit is far better rather than the aftermarket blueconnect accessory.
