Altering the sensitivity of the parking sensors?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Took delivery of my new Greenline II about two weeks ago. Loving it and loving this forum!

Is it possible to alter the sensitivity of the parking sensors? The underground car park at work is extremely tight and I need all the room I can get. The parking sensors are much more cautious than other cars I've owned and I'm getting the continuous tone while still some distance away. There isn't a fault as it's operating as per the handbook.

It's somewhat negating the purpose of the sensors, as I'm finding myself still edging nervously forward quite a way while in the continuous tone - especially at the front.

Possible or not possible??

Don't think it's possible - you can adjust the tone through the MFD though.

From the manual:

The clearance warning begins at a distance of about 160 cm from the obstacle

(area A ? fig. 120). The interval between the warning signals becomes shorter as

the clearance is reduced.

A continuous tone sounds from a distance of approx. 30 cm (area B ) - danger

area. You should not reverse any further after this signal sounds!

Probably just needs some getting used to and knowing exactly how far after the continuous beeps you can reverse further!

Doyou not have the picture? This gives clear distance (on mine it does) so that when the light orange/brown coulour appears you know how close you are.

As Coops says it just getting used to it.

Yep, it's all working to specification - just as the instruction manual describes. But point is that I'm still a foot away from the obstacle. I could get to that position no problem using my eyes. What I'd prefer is that the threshold was lower, like some of my earlier cars.

For example, in our work underground car park, if the front of the car is one foot from the wall (the tone limit) then I'm sticking one foot further out at the back. And it already sticks out a bit (lol)! In my opinion the tone should be continuous at 10cm or so, hence giving you the ability to get closer in when 'L' parking or manoeuvring in a tight spot with such a long car. For the last foot the sensors are effectively blind, in the sense there's no further progress indication.

As virtually everything else on the car is infinitely adjustable then I was wondering if this is?

I know that once the final colour is shown I can nudge about 6" further back and still be about 5-6" away. You are not going to get a system that will be so accurate as I think you want as the manufactures would be paying out lots of money for accidents.
