Buying advice - 2007 Skoda Octavia 1.6 FSI Ambiente 5dr Estate

Featured Replies

Hi !

Been browsing/lurking for a while, now after some advice !

I've been after a Skoda Octavia for a while, and in particular the Estate model.

Found a local advert a couple of days ago, for a 2007 Skoda Octavia 1.6 FSI Ambiente 5dr Estate, description as follows;

5 Door Estate, Metallic silver, Petrol, Manual, Trip computer, ABS, Cloth seat trim, Service indicator, Air conditioning, Front head restraints, Serviced by main dealer, New tyres, New brake discs and pads on all wheels, Timing chain (not belt), Recent service, MOT until April 2013, Tax until March 2013, Bodywork in excellent condition, No marks on seats, Low mileage for age

The mileage is only 37,500 and has full dealer service history too. Have spoken to the guy selling it, and he is an old gentleman upgrading to a diesel as he wishes to tow a caravan.

Anything to look out for with this model ? I like the idea of a timing chain instead of a belt ... not sure what the Ambiente trim level is like though.

As I said to the wife (trying to convince her) a Skoda Octavia is a Volkswagon in disguise ...

Come on guys & gals .... help me, is this a good car ? Any downsides ?

Cheers

Mark

Welcome to Briskoda!

If you trying posting in the dedicated Octavia MkII forum you'll likely get much more interest in your thread.

The Ambiente is one of the lower specs (only the Classic below it) but it still gets the vast majority of essential toys.

My wife was equally suspicious of my determination to buy an Octavia. We now have two - one each.

She loves her Octavia Scout to bits and this is coming from a BMW 320d.
