Octavia VRS Mk1 Remap problems - Elite Remaps

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had an Elite Remaps remap done on my Octavia VRS Mk1. As soon as the remap was done, the car immediately went into limp mode. All 4 coil packs were blown. This can happen after a remap, so ok, bought 4 new coil packs which the Elite Remaps dealer sourced and fitted for me. The following day, 2 of these blew! I then sourced my own genuine VAG coil packs as those sourced by the remapper were poor quality patterned parts.

With the car at last running ok (at least in terms of coil packs), off I went to do the first 20 miles since the remap. After around 10 miles the car started to exhibit serious boost stutter and surging between 2500 and 3500rpm. At 15 miles I got the CEL light, then, in 5th gear I got an ASR light, and the car showed a MAF failure on VAG-COM. I replaced the MAF and immediately got the same CEL, same VAG-COM code and ASR light! .... 3rd MAF, same thing. Since then, I've just driven the car avoiding putting it under much load when in 5th gear, to avoid further MAF errors.

I changed the N75 valve, Diverter Valve and also had all pipework checked. I had the turbo, actuator, rod, and all gaskets checked and were found to be fine. I finally invested in getting the car looked at for a full diagnostics check (independent to the Elite Remaps dealer) by an independent VAG specialist who took logs and ran a dozen VAG-COM tests and visually inspected every element of the engine. He said that there were no issue with any components on the car and that it appeared very likely that the issues were in the remap, which appeared to be causing a huge boost spike, which led to the ECU going into a overboost cycle, giving the stutter/surge.

The purpose of this thread is not to say that Elite Remaps are a bad company of that all of their maps are poor, but just to wanr others of the problems I had with this specific application: 1.8T AUQ.

Cheers.

Hi instead of dealing with the monkey why don't you go to the organ grinder ? Just a suggestion.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the issues are a result of the map's application on my specific vehicle / engine / ECU, and as the remapper has now put my stock map back on, I'll probably now keep this car standard.

Don't think my car wants to be remapped!

Just to update on this thread, my car was set back to the standard map today and I was given a full refund by the dealer. I asked him if he will get the money back himself from Elite Remaps and he said he's not sure, sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't, depending on a few things.

I really hope he gets his costs back as the map did not work out, but he spent 3 visits at my house trying and shouldn't end up out of pocket.

Was this mapped on your driveway or on a rolling road?
