weigh of heater

Featured Replies

how much weight would i save by removing the heater and all associated parts in the nova?? gonna take the weight reduction a stage further with removal of most of the dash and surrounding parts :D

It's so tempting to suggest chucking it altogether

What have you ripped out of it so far? You can probably rip out all that kinda stuff, although you'd have to check if the heater matrix is part of the cooling system - it was on the Renault 21 I used to own and you couldn't remove it -

I am guessing removal of all padding materials, standard seats, that kinda thing, would have a good impact too. Bucket seat with proper seat belt will weigh a lot less.

Any form of electric motor that you can do without = good as they are relatively heavy.

er, currently only got front seats, front caarpet and dash left. no head lining, door cards or rear end :D

Chop the dash in half mate. Seriously, the dash is heavy, get rid.

chop in half, don't be so silly. the things going, whole :D

just need somewhere to gaffa tape the dials too :P

In that case, get a full rollcage, you can strap dials to that.

also thinking of chopping the spare wheel well out, ditching the rear wash wipe, perspex windows(rivited in place), and then stiffening up the rear end with some steel bar and a welder :D got a strut brace on the front so that'll do the back some good

You mean JamesW? Hmm, you don't happen to own an imperial red A reg Fiesta do you? f so, I've met ya. Though I was sure you lived in Godmanchester and not the land of roundabouts.

No i dont own a Fiesta, although maybe its a sign?! lol

Ah yes the land of rounderbouts, tuff on the poor old Furby :(

I'm guessing this one is for track use then?

Definitely dash you just want a rev counter & speedo, button to start it and a switch for ignition on/off :D

Smaller fuel tank is also worth considering, and may not be the worst idea if you go track racing in it.

You using it on the road as well? If not, you can rip out a whole lot more, lights front/rear, just have brake lights in that case as most tracks require those, I bet using LED ones would be lighter than the standard units.

:D

button to start it and a switch for ignition on/off :D

got that all ready

Any pics of it & what do you use it for ?

the nova?? its a f**kin shed that just gets abused round oxford leaving big dark clouds where ever it goes, we do have big idea's for it though. if they come to fruition then all on here will see and know ;)

If you are planning on track only-ing it, lose the rear lense ability to show brake lights. Buy some XR2 fogs and stick them at top of the tailgate, a bit like the stock car racing. It just means that if the light gets smashed by accident, you still have brake lights which are kinda important.

That's what I'm thinking too - if you are prepping for a race on say Standlake ;) that's the way to go. Definitely consider a PROPER role cage, not cheap but worth it for that kinda thing and also required :)
