Private Plate feeler.

Featured Replies

Hey all,

As some of you know I am in the process of changing cars at the moment.

It's unlikely that I'll be buying another vRS of any type this time around so my

private reg number will be up for sale shortly.

It's still on my car at the moment.

Not everybodys taste perhaps but I thought it was cool B)

I received an automated valuation yesterday from National numbers .com of

£1400 for this registration number. :o

I was surprised at how high the valuation was if I'm honest.

I aim to call them later in the week and talk to an actual person on the matter

but in the meantime I was wondering if there was any potential interest on here.

I'm open to offers price wise and can transfer immediately.

It could go on any vRS out there all but the very oldest of Octy vRS's.

Although it isn't officially on sale anywhere as of yet if you are interested please feel free

to contact me via PM if you have any questions or want to discuss a potential purchase.

It's a little cheaper to transfer the reg directly to another vehicle rather than putting it on

retention as I understand but it's my first private plate so I've never done this before and

am a little unsure of the ins and outs.

Hope it's someones elses cup of tea too.

Give me a shout if it's caught your eye.

I'd suggest you put it on retention before sale, rather than try to transfer it straight to another vehicle. We are only talking about £25......

Also, bear in mind this needs to be done well before you change your car - when you change back to your car's original number plate you have to hand in your V5 and a new one will be issued with the original reg. this might take two weeks or, as DVLA told me last week, 4-6 weeks(!). If you don't plan in advance this could seriously delay your p/x or car sale (last time I changed cars the dealer was happy to wait for the V5 and just accepted he couldn't sell my p/x for a month or so. This time the dealer won't entertain that, so depends from place to place.....

To put a plate on retention for a year is 105 quid!

No. Transfer fee is 80. Retention is 25 giving the 105 you mention.

You pay the 80 regardless unless you leave the plate on the car.

Id agree with awol. It seems much easier to put on rentention as you can do this in your own time rather than try to line every thing up....

Thanks fellas, I'll get that done.

You're right, it's only a little extra to pay and for

my £25 I get a lot more flexibility.

Much obliged for the expertise.

They are a ridiculously over-priced website!

For example - AD51LAV is advertised as £271 on the national numbers website - then add VAT and transfer fee... over £400!!

DVLA are £255 inc VAT and Transfer fee...

To be honest I'd be happy with half or thereabouts of their quoted price.

I would say £200 is reasonable

Its a 7 digit numberplate that doesnt really say anything apart from what kindov looks like vrs but the s is still a 5, the fly bit is kindov cool

£350?????

Please...

This is a for sale thread, if you would like to discuss the legalities of plate display spacing etc. then feel free to start another thread in the appropriate forum.

And if anyone was wondering...

It is displayed correctly on my car and always has been

on 100% legal numberplates purchased at Halfords with

all the correct spacing, font and BS marks.

The plates would of course be included in the sale.

Really want this plate...
