Allegedly West Europe parts - all made in China

Featured Replies

I was doing a little research for the best price on some parts I need for Felicia.

So I ended up on this site: http://cosunparts.com/downloads/catalog-listing.htm

I had a look on their catalogs and decided to e-mail their office and ask for a dealer address in Europe.

The manager told me they only manufacture the parts and send them in cheap cardboard boxes to major autoparts companies in Europe. Nothing new so far, but here's something I'd like you to comment on. I asked for the price of front and rear bumpers, new style front grill and roof antenna (with amplifier and cables) all for Felicia II.

I was amazed! Their products are re-boxed in Europe in fancy, shiny, colored, re-branded packages WITHOUT mentioning they're made in China, and the price they sell for... well... have a look:

- front and rear bumpers: 20 times more expensive!

- new style front grill: 35 times more expensive!

- roof antenna: 65 times more expensive!!!

What do you reckon?

sounds right to me China is going to be the only place making anything soon,

big difference between made in china with chinese quality control and made in china with VW quailty control tho

Most of the big motorbike manufactures are making them in china now but are totally different quality to the crappy chinese hongda or suzoki etc that you can buy.

lots of the Genuine VW filters say made in china on the box now

actually after looking at the link I recon Skoda have sold off the tooling now its obsolete stuff after all the fav hasn't been made since 1994.

but what about the price we have to pay for parts?

how much profit is enough for Europe re-packaging car parts dealers?

1500% ?

5000% ?

And the quality of those is IMHO poor compared to the MH and Purflux ones that used to be genuine.

Having seen the genuine Made in China oil filter I fitted to a car after which had long life servicing, but came back only only 8k miles later I'd never fit them again. The thing had swollen badly.

FWIW the current OEM ones seem to be made in Eastern Europe, which at least is a step in the right direction.

The quality of those filters should be fine too.

Personally I've gone to buying and using the Mann Filter or Purflux aftermarket filters for everything unless specifically asked for an OEM filter.
