Headlight query

Featured Replies

Ive noticed over the last few days that the drivers headlight cluster has got condensation inside the unit. Passenger side is clear. We have had heavy rain over the last few days. So am I right in satiny obviously water is getting into the unit itself?

Thanks for any info on the matter

I have this on my o/s/r light cluster but there is no water in there. Strange.

If you pop the bonnet you will see the vents on the inner edge of each headlight.

If you drive through enough water and it splashes high/hard enough to reach these vents then you may get some water/moisture in the headlight.

It should dry out by itself but if you want it is very easy to remove the headlight and leave it in the airing cupboard for a few hours with the bulb access caps removed to give it a good air.

The rear light clusters have a foam pad that seals them to the body of the car. If this seal is disturbed or fails then it will let moisture into the cluster, you can see them here:

You can see the vents on the headlight in this picture:
