Connector T11a Anyone ever gained access to it?

Featured Replies

Connector T11a is located at the fwd firewall inside the car around about above the steering column.

Has anyone ever managed to reach it, is there an easy way to get to it?

Its a complete **** to get to.

Scuttle off, wipers and motor out.

Then you realise you cant get into it anyhow to actually pin anything out.

What you after doing?

yeh it's a no go area i have gained access after removing wiper motor, scuttle panel, front bulhead, steering column, + various other parts go in at the ecu stu much better idea ;)

Big K mentioned about dropping the steering column - not too sure whats involved in that.

I don't suppose you can get it from the top of the dash? That must be designed to be taken out for airbag replacment.

You can take the dash out and its a bit easier to get to.

Pin 14 on the ECU is by far the best way to get to the wire needed. It wont look OEM anyway once you have removed half the car to get to the correct connection point.

I wasn't thinking of taking the whole dash out - wasn't sure if the top lifted off?

I wasn't too keen on 'splicing' into the ecu loom, thought it would look a bit obvious and maybe tacky.

So there is no access via the scuttle or limited access?

I have the time to spend on it - not in a rush, just looking for the easiest approach from you guy's the experts

You dont need to splice into the loom. If you open up the connector and join into the wire inside the protective covering it cant be seen.

Hi Guys,

After fitting cruise control yesterday I really couldn't see any way of getting to the T11a without removing the entire dash. Not something I really wanted to do but now I've seen the board I think it was the only way to do it! Even if you can squeeze your hand through to the board I don't know how you'd find the right terminal let alone the right pin. Once the dash is off you can easily access it.

Only problem was I plugged it into the T11a pin 10 and it didn't work. The instructions also show that you can plug it into pin 6 on T11b so that may be my problem.

Passenger airbag is bolted to underside of dash, above glove compartment. All fixings are accessible with the glove compartment out, so I assume this is how it would be replaced...
