induction

Featured Replies

Hi All

i got my Vrs with a realy cheep induction kit on and quickly replased with a pipercross cone, but now i am conserned about heat soak, and realy want the std air box back on or some thing simmaler, or if i can afford it a in-closed induction kit (BMC etc).

Wat std air boxes can i fit and how hard is it to get a hold of a std vrs box??

Thanks Marko

Just put a cold air feed in. 3" bit of flexi pipe from lower part of bumper by horn.

I got a standard air box spare.. if you wanted to keep your filter, get ya self a 3" solid ali 45 deg pipe and attach it to your maf.. then the other end put your filter. this will now be sat next to your battery /behind your head light. Run a cold air feed pipe from the bumper to the filter and vwalla.. you have no heat soak..

i have this set up and my filter is cold to the touch after sat in the skool run traffic. See my build for pic.

Sounds good the pipe work and all (red your build thread 100 times and still wating on LED's???) but i think i will go for the std box with a good filter and do the cold air feed straght in the the box (looked at a diy on the forum cant remember who done it tho),.

Y do you keep temting me with your garage bits.......................... how much for the air box lol?

You can get std airbox's quite easy as you can use lots of 1.8T ones as the same. Seat Leon Cupra, VW Golf Gti VRS etc..

they are heap these days

or you can go different route's as mentioned either remove cone, extend pipework and fit cone on end or kunk that cone and get a BMC or similar made item. Lots of different opinins so up to you really. But suggest remove the cone from MAF asap as that is a heat spak and poor set up.

Some items i did with std airbox

Thanks "bowders1" it was your thread i red lol

Did you notice any diff with the box mod??

I like it sort of OEM+ or sleeperish.

The ABD CAI looks nice mate, cant help but notice you have cut some of your car away to fit your FMIC, is that allowed? lol.

The Std airbox works well certainly with added 3" pipping an a lot of folks perform this mod. I hav mine mapped with my ABD CAi on and works well for my state of tune. The Front bar is modded slightly but the top section is still attached. My choice but i would not recomend moding that to other folks.

I did think about a FMIC (and cutting the frount bar away like yours) but dont have the cash right now.

My vRS is apparently mapped to 225ish bhp but cant be sure the boy who had it before me told me it had been dun and had the papers to go with his claim but he also cut the springs, dont think i can trust him lol

If it has been mapped do you think the std box is a good idea?

Marko

To be honest with the mods you have I doubt very much you have anywhere near 225 bhp. I have 226 bhp with a stage 2 and all my mods but 262lbs of torque which is very good. For 225 bhp you would need stage 2 remap and free flowing exhaust, good inter cooler etc. best to get it checked on a RR

RR booked for next month, i dont think it has a stage 2 maybe a stage 1 (boost @ 19psi).

I will post up the sheets when its dun.
