Weekend Gran Turismo Challenge!

:drivesaf:

Calling all racers, fancy a challenge :naughty:

Yes?? :hyper:

The challenge I am setting is to complete the fastest possible lap of the famed Grand Valley circuit.

However there is a catch!

The rules state that the car must...

Have ONLY front wheel drive

It must be possible to buy the car at a dealer or in the used car garages.

Racing cars and cars from tuner garages are exempt.

The car can/should be tuned as much as possible.

You must set the lap using Racing Medium slick tyres.

Traction control is allowed to be turned on or off, whatever you prefer.

Spoilers can be used.

I think thats everything.

Lets find the fastest front wheel drive car and driver :)

Post the type of car you use, its max power and your lap time. If you can post evidence that would be cool, but im sure we can trust all realistic claims.

If you set the best time you can bask in the kudos and treat yourself to a nice beer :D

Happy tuning

:revs:

I'll see if I can make some time, I'll give this a go! If no-one else takes part, coming in 2nd place isn't too bad ;)

Chris

Bring it on

By the way, although its a weekend challenge, there is no deadline for results.

(Mainly because i'm at Oulton Park all day on sunday :o)

Well it wont be me, although I am pretty ok on that circuit.

Honda type R!! :D

So it can be tuned to buggery but it has to have Racing meduim slicks. Sounds like fun!

Got to have a go at that - FWD :( that's my favourite TVR staying in the garage then!

All you GT4 ponces should be playing WRC4. Now THAT is a challenging game.

Yeah I like that as well - and CMR (whatever number we're up to!)...but variety is the spice of life.

 LMAO

Anyone played NFSU2 yet ? ;)

nfsu2 is ok, but a bit arcady unfort. Good with the Logitech GT4 wheel though for drifting but as you cant feel the G's its hard

Are we going to post times thoughout the weekend?

I hope so 'cos here's my first session:

1:58.877 (Alfa GT 401 BHP - actually 426BHP in the garage...Stage 3 NA)

1:58.382 (Alfa GT 455BHP...Stage 3 Turbo)

I'll set 'em up - you knock 'em down :D

Guess who's got the afternoon off work because of electrical testing work

Nice one Simon.

The 400bhp and 2 minute barriers have both been broken :)

I think we should just keep posting times until the pinnacle is reached, so to speak.

If anyone thinks a cut off time would be better then we could do instead.

I think i will be practicing tonight and posting my time tommorow ;)

Alfa 147 405BHP and all I can manage for now is 2:15

Have I scared everyone off with my amazing time?

Trying now with a 454 BHP Honda Integra Type R, should be able to get under 1:55 if I can get the handling sorted :auto:

Right we are also gonna need some photo graphic proof of good times, get your camera's (or if your flash your USB devices) out. :)

Im off to have a go at this one.

:)

Where my keys to my Focus RS ;)

Can we stretch it out a bit - make it over a week or so?

2:04.9 with Integra Type R at 425 bhp.

I'll fiddle with settings later but I don't think I'll find 7 seconds.

Blimey Simon, i was at work when you posted your 1.58 so didnt realise quite how good it was

The best i have managed so far is

Alfa 156 @ 466bhp....2.03

I dont really see where another 5 seconds can come from....

Might have to try a new car, the power is good but handling could be better on something else i guess!

I called the thread weekend challenge because it was friday when i posted, but i think it should go on for longer as people are obviously busy in the nice weather

Hope everyone had a nice day today, i have been waxing the Fabia and its looks lovely :)

Oh, and pictures of times would be good.

I won't crack open the champagne just yet :dtp:

Damn. 2:02.6. Ford Focus RS at 386bhp.

I'm never gonna find those 4 seconds.

And I'm going out to drink away my frustrations.

Maybe I'll just put it in the fridge :D
