DV Relocation

Featured Replies

I have read a few posts regarding this following seeing some images of people having fitted them and looking at the Forge fitting instructions I found online.

I am aware of the pros and cons of fitting one for the most part, and that you are supposed to swap the DV around (hose form the throttle body into the bottom and the exit to the side goes to the TIP), but my question is why?

Does this not lead to the same horrible noise you get if you reverse it in its standard location? Does it make any difference to the effectiveness of the DV or could it cause damage by connecting it the other way?

Cheers,

Rob

the way the dv is fitted when relocated is the way most other dv are placed as std(as near to the tb as poss)also the way round with pressure at the bottom venting at the side,vw seem strange and fit there one in reverse

Mine's this way around:

It doesn't sound much different to when it was in the normal place - but I do have the Carbonio intake fitted :)

Thanks chaps. It was your site I went to Rob to see how it was supposed to be fitted. I just can't quite understand why the relocation causes it to be fitted that way without making the illegid horrible noise you get hwne you reverse it over the TIP.

I also have a Carbonio... does it sould the same as before it was moved with the carbonio fitted or with the standard airbox? I expected to get a bit quieter than it is at the moment. Should find out in the next couple of days when I get it fitted mind.

That's a very good point. I'm running it the wrong way around aren't I? Or am I?

yits hard to see what way round urs is rob, i plumbed mine in the way it is OEM. bottom of the dv goes to the tip and the side into the tb. . It all depends where you want it to dump i suppose. 1 way it will chirp, other way it with Tishhh.

Can just about see mine here..

Looks like I've been running mine the wrong way for several years then - doh!!!

I'll flip it around, see what happens :)

Flipped it and went for a test run. The car feels the same and the noise is a little bit less harsh sounding but not much quieter.

your ment to run it in reverse ,tb pipe into bottom of dv,side of dv to tip,ive tried other way and did not hold boost as well. :)

According to Forge it's supposed to be the "side to TIP" way round looking at the photo https://www.eurospor.../FMDVRLK-01.pdf . Although as the 007p was fitted to the car when I bought it, I've never looked for the fitting instructions of the valve... just assumed it's supposed to be how it's fitted. Makes the tsssssssh sound alright so I still get plenty of disapproving looks :).

As I still haven't fitted my boost gauge yet and am not sure if I'll be able to feel any differences I'll go with the way Mr G and forge say. Although the reason why it would hold boost better eludes me.

me to! But as i said before most people/tuners fit dv's this way round on other cars,vw group cars dv always look back to front to me :)
