MkIV Recaro's or S3 Recaro's?

Featured Replies

I've got a set of S3 Black leather Recaros in the car at the moment and have a chance to swap them for a set of mkiv 4 door recaro's black leather too!

Which in people's opinions are better or worth more?

My current seats

S3 every day of the week.

Recaro's for me

the mk4's look better, but id say depends on condition.

Mk4 seats have no electrics so should be lighter.

S3 seats are best, the mkiv recaros are the same as you get in an a3 sport (some models anyway, I had them in mine) but not in leather. So Audi seem to think they are better anyway

they are both recaros, the s3 seat is a truer recaro seat as fitted to many other cars (audis etc), the mk4 seat is more of a compromise, the s3 seat has pull out leg supports on top of a lot more adjustment.

s3 all the way.

S3 all day Long

Wish I had that choice!

They're really rare in this part of the world so go for the equivalent of 500-1000 quid.

buy some recaros from a holden Rob, and have them welded to your subframes, not too hard, and would mean you could have better seats than you have now.

S3's, for all the above reasons!

They're more supportive, too.

yep s3's all the way, look moch better imo

S3's - more comfort

SORRY :bandit:

The R32 Konigs look like they offer so much more in side support than both the others....

Saying that, I reckon the MKIV Recaros look more at home in the Octavia than the S3 seats and look like they offer more side support too....so better in the corners ;)

Well, yes... but have you seen what they go for!?

The Mk4 Recaro's actually offer less support, as they're a lot softer.

That was why I was thinking of changing. The newer bora ones are very nice and would look very good in a Octavia in my opinion. In terms of support the s3 seats offer more adjustments and options but look abit bulky and out of place in the octavia, but the Mkiv definitely hug you more and look right at home in the octy also come in four door.

They are ridiculously over priced just get a cloth set and reupholster them in black leather would work out half the price.

Retro-tastic!

billy won't like me for saying this, or agree, but the s3s are much better seat, the r32 looks like they would be better, but they aren't, they aren't anywhere near as comfy, or supportive (the r32 doesnt support the shoulders like the s3 seats do) the r32s are just as heavy suprisngly, and the set i had had no lumbar support either?!? The s3 seat has pull out leg supports which are nice on a long drive.

Why do you think vag, use the recaro seat on nearly all their top end models and not the konig seat? look at the equivalent rs6 and rs4 (as well as s4, s6 models) seats for example, they are a basically the same as the s3 seat and not the r32 seats!

Lol.

I can see where your comin from. Think its down to individuals as the r32seat is perfect for me. The base is spot on in length and the sides are high and dont pinch like the std seats. Also the sides are pleanty supportive and hold me in. Only grip is the sholder support can get in the way a tad. And could do with having cloth centers but the full leather and shape of the seat means you are slid back in to it like a glove lol.

Mine has lumber support and needs it as tge back is deep and uncumfy when wound back in.

On the weight note tho they are darn heavy! Needs the side airbags removing i think. Will be done one day all bein well when the vrs style black n white recover goes on.(many many years from now tho :'( )

lol, am glad you said that....they are seriously heavy, heavier than any other vag seat i have taken out, and they dont even have all the motors that the s3s do. I couldnt work out why the r32s are so heavy, concrete internals i think!;>

The seats i had, def needed lumbar, they were a killer on a drive, i really wasnt impressed with them, as considering how they looked, i expected them to be awesome. Have had 2 sets, the second hand cloth inserts which i actually kinda liked!

  • 3 months later...

Anyone got any advice about what's needed to wire a set of S3 fronts seats into an Octavia?

Youll prob need the wires from the original car or from an L&K which iirc had electric seats. The vRS didnt have them.
