100%. The S3's dont actually use the standard sliders they have their own that's what makes them soo chunky and heavy!

  • SHOW OFF :giggle: S3 seats unless i win the lotto then it's R32 seats for me

  • billy won't like me for saying this, or agree, but the s3s are much better seat, the r32 looks like they would be better, but they aren't, they aren't anywhere near as comfy, or supportive (the r32 do

Yeah, instead of matching the bolts in the seats to the holes in the chassis floor, I'm matching up holes to holes.

Make sense?

Would any Audi A3/S3 seat bolting system work?

are you sure they are S3 ones? and not S4?

I really didn think that all mk4 platform cars used same runners in the floor and the front bracket?

I have one fitted in the runners no problem and lined up. It's just got holes where bolts should be.

A couple of short bolts and nuts would probably hold it, but I'm wonder what way they're officially supposed to be bolted in.

The S3s slide onto the original runners but have their own separate runners that run along youll see this once they are fitted correctly. The S3s use a slightly different securing system instead of having bolts that come through the mounting bracket and tightening nuts onto them. They work the opposite you line the holes up and put through two the bolts and tighten them up to the seats.

S4 seats have completely different runners that bolt down to the floor of the car. I bought a set a while ago after being reassured they were from an S3 and it turned out they were from an S4 cabriolet.

Thats clearer mate.

I thought you were bolting thru holes in floor.

Not thru the bracket you normally use nuts on lol

Do you think any 13mm or so bolt would do?

Sorry I can see it all in my head Im just really bad at explaining things :-P

You need to match up the tread size not the bolts head size bring the nut from your vrs seats to a hard wear store and try match a few up. Id say your easiest and best would be to just go to a scrappy though.

They should have bolts welded to the subframes just like your OE ones.

I found a pic online of the underside and I've pointed out the area where the holes are (and where the vRS seats have a silver alloy thing which holds the two bolts).

These aren't mine, so they clearly don't come with the fixed bolts and must use 'loose' bolts to fix them:

Just went and bought a few M8 bolts and nuts. Seems to work fine for the passenger side anyway

I think that is my picture :giggle: you can see the nuts welded to the other side that the bolts tighten into.

There is also plastic trims that is suppose to go over the top of we're the bolts go in.

WOW

now thats why they are so heavy lol, they are normal seats and looks like they made a bodge frame to slot in to the std mk4 runners and also use the normal runners too if that makes sence lol

They're heavy mostly because of the motors...

  • 5 months later...

Where would I get a lap belt for the rear centre seat?

I don't seem to have one with the S3 seats.

Get a lap belt out of a standard a3 from a breakers.

not as heavy as the r32 seats or the leon sport seats (the leccy ones)
