Window fallen down

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

Just put passengers door window down and there was a lot of grinding and that was it over window stuck in the door.

I have removed the carrier and found that the whole thing is fecked.

my question is does the carrier come complete ready just to put window in wire it up a and pop rivet back in.

And how much are they

my friend had a gt tdi golf same problem, it turned out to be 2 small white clips that had broken, holding it all together. Cost a few pounds, wish i had more info for you mate

Replaced mine with a genuine Skoda one recently and it was £85 IIRC all ready to just rivet back on

that makes more sense than my suggestion ....... so ..... what he said.

thanks for that, saved me a call to the stealers! Mines held up with gaffer tape at the mo after I snapped the winder mechanism's cable (looooooong story)

My window fell out on Dartmoor during a howling gale, since then I always carry a rubber door stop in the boot,

Door stop would not have been any good this time as the window got stuck in door.

I think I might put some sound deadening in and wait for the other window to chuck it and then do it.

Just going to get vibe stuff from halfords

If your using the genuine Skoda rivets then you WILL need a heavy duty riveter like a lazy tonge as a normal one just won't happen !

Job done and the newsome make heavy duty riveter worked a treat it's not a lazy tongue or pistol grip one handed riveter it's a two handed tool with plastic catch bottle to catch the stalks of the rivet it has a garden shearer type action. I also sealed the carrier and as I had it apart put sound deadening on door and carrier .

I then phoned dealer for supply and fit price which was 195.00 so after buying carrier and riveter I've saved 95quid.

Think it's time for a pint of staropramen

Thinking about stripping drivers side and rears to fit sound deadening but is a lot of work .

The passengers door is noticeably heavier when I'm closing it
