Psi tuning

Featured Replies

Hia all.

Psi tuning are close to me and I was curious if anyone has a remap with them, ideally on a mk1 octavia vrs. They have offered one at a good price and I'm considering it but don't know if it's worth the extra to drive down to R-Tech. Thoughts please.

Thanks Gav.

They do APR stuff, which are one of the best :)

Thanks Babs. I've heard since that it would be a generic map and I know nothing about these things though the guys at Psi are saying as my car is standard there is no point in a custom map?

If it's just a remap, and your car is otherwise standard, yeah no point in a custom map

Great news thanks, I heard that generic maps can caurse boost surge but as I said I know nothing about these things :-/.

Thanks for all the help and info.

Generic crap maps may cause surge, APR are the top-dogs, backed up by 1,000s of hours of R&D and a dealer network, not some greasy bloke and a 5 year old Packard Bell laptop ;)

I had a generic from jabbasport and they road tested the vehicle thoroughly to make sure there were no issues.

They're a decent, reputable company, with a long history of tuning VAG

I had a three page response from my Lotus forum about who are the best VAG tuners as I didn't get a ****y bird when I posted here.

Their consensus was MRC, APR and Revo - a lot of the guys there have huge knowledge as Lotus often isn't their only car and I know one guy who has a 400bhp+ 1.8t 20v project Elise plus another owns the Esthi with the RS4 turbo engine featured in Evo.

They did also say that APR were in and out of the UK.

I've seen bad comments about Jabbasport (seem fine here) and nowt about Shark, but it's Shark who will have my business as they seem to know their way round the PD170 and have a good rep here.

APR were out because of support issues, but they now have a proper R&D HQ in the UK

Just a quick update here, a things stand I havnt done anything about the map yet as I keep going to London to sort some things out for the Olympics but I will let you all know once I get the ball rolling.

On a side note I keep hearing good things about r- tech and they also do dyno runs from what I've heard for the same kind of money?

Thanks again all.

Woohoo got the map done finally. In the end I went to psi due to location and time restraints.

Very impressed the vrs now pulls loads better :-). I would say the dyno run is very optimistic though as follows :

Fly power - 210ish

Peak power at the wheel - 175

Torque peak - about 185

Overall well worth the money and big grins on the drive home.

keep us posted --once you've stopped grinning :-)

How she running now mate ? I've got mine booked back in at psi on tuesday to have the map looked at (stage2) did they tell you which map they used ?

My car came with a custom r-tech map installed and it failed an mot. Had to have the ecu flashed by skoda to get it through an mot. Wouldnt go anywhere r-tech to be honest.

Well it's been a few weeks now and she's running really well. I can't see any difference in mpg or such but that being said it was never the reason to get the map.

Still happy with it but its amazing how quickly you get used to having the power there and forget about it.

Afaik it was a standard apr map and then smothed out to suit the car.

Happy days

So PSI are essentially adapting APR software then, is that right?

When I spoke to them they do two different brands (apr, revo?) plus their custom one which is what I had .

I have herd bad stuff about bout psi tuning and I now a few lads car going bang to bad maps from there

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They used to be custom code dealers, I've retuned a number of tdi's that came from there.

If you fancy a quick drive up to Manchester, we are back with APR so we can offer the APR mapping for the petrol engines :D

We also offer our own Awesome remapping for the diesel engines which starts from £150.00 inc VAT

If there is anything I can do just ask!

Awesome Mike

I know a lad who worked at psi for abit he said some of their work was shocking mechanics wise but their maps were good that's what tempted me instead of goin Collins in cong . Sorry mike didn't think bout your place lol
