I thought you were supposed to get the option of a 'speed awareness course' for your first speeding offense?!

lol happened to me 6 years also, get the fabia and done within 6 months lol (fabia attracts police attention i think )

If you were sent it in the post normally you do get the option, or if you got pulled by a traffic cop like I did you might want to try writing a letter to the ticket head office and say you feel you would benefit more from a speed awareness course and you feel let down you were not offered one. Worked for me!

Depends on the speed limit you were caught in think they only offer awareness course if your in a 30 or 40 limit

Depends on what force it is too. Not all forces offer speed awareness.

I had a quick Google search on the awareness course and apparently you only get offered it if you are 10% + no more than 9mph above the speed limit. Might be worth requesting it but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Before anyone asks, I was doing 70 in a 50 (a stupid 50 on a duel carriageway might I add).

I doubt you'll get it then mate, I was doin 86 in a 70 an after just reading ur post about the 10% + 9mph, I was very lucky!

I got done doing 38 in a 30, this was a dual carriageway too.

I was offered a speed awareness course - does depend on police force though.

I got done at 96 on the M62, asked if I could go on the awareness course and was told I was way over the limit

I then asked if I could go twice, the answer was still no

£60 + 3 points

It seems to depend a lot on where you live..And if going vastly over the limit you are pretty unlikely to be offered a speed awareness course.I was caught doing 58 in a 50 a couple of yrs ago and was offered the course.

I got caught by a brand new hidden Gatso doing 61 in a 50 (was very late and driving my punto) got offered awareness course through post and turned up in a brand new Fab vRS lol...

"Do you like driving fast sir?"

"Ermm yes"

"Well, don't get caught next time"

Fyi.... It's 10% +9 mph for the speed awareness course just got mine.....

There is a section of dual carriageway, ( 3LANES ) that is 30mph in Bradford that links with the start of the M606, so you come off there and on to a wider road than the motorway,(2 lanes at the end) catches loads out, it was 60, ( I got done in my Biker days!

If you got caught by a static camera, easy to spot, cops behind parked cars less so
