A/C recharge policy

Featured Replies

Noticed A/C deteriorating over past 3 months or so. Had it checked at Skoda dealership and instead of 520 grams it should be the reading was around

230 grams hence the poor performance.

Yeti is about 21 months old.

Was expected to pay for a recharge as no leak detected. My point is,

is this normal (60% loss). Not clear where this refrigerant all went.....

Have asked for it to be referred to Skoda as I'm told if no leak is detected

Skoda won't pay for it. Surely if it losses so much it is likely to need

re-doing soon as nothing has been done to prevent the loss.

Any one with similar experience and what outcome ?

Are they sure there was no leak? I had it happen on a Freelander, and until they put a dye in the system no one could see the leak.

It's normal for a car aircon to gradually loose a small amount of gas through porous hoses and dry seals, but 60% over 21months sounds very high.

Was the only test they did a vacuum leak test? Or given that over half the gas had gone in 21 months, did they inject UV dye/use a sniffer?

Give Skoda UK a call and ask them if losing 55% of the gas in 21 months is acceptable.

Not sure what test they did but will pursue if Skoda UK come back with a negative as they have raised issue with them..

Our fabia was in for a service this week and our dealer, Palmers Watford had previously sent out a voucher for a free A/C and regas/antibacterial treatment if necessary.

Worth £95 they quoted

Needless to say we took advantage and the old girl is now cool and odourless :)
